A New Outlook
‘This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – and I am the worst of them all’ 1 Tim.1:15
A lot of times, we get lost looking for God in the dramatic whereas God has come to us as a baby in a manger. God gave to us His Son Jesus. Jesus is the reason for the season. However you and I are the reason for His coming in this season in the first place. Without you and I, Jesus would not have needed to come and there will be no reason for Christmas. The significance of Christmas of course is around Jesus but it transcends just Jesus. If the meaning does not come to fruition in our lives then Christmas is wasted. So even though Read the rest of this entry
Celebrate Success
‘These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age’ 1 Cor.10:11.
The truth is that you cannot love a person you are competing with. So if you are always competing with your spouse, you cannot really love your spouse because he/she becomes your competitor. Competition means getting ahead of the other person. Love means preferring the person over yourself. Competition is the opposite of love in this regard. To love is to put the person before yourself and not as Cain who chose to silence Abel totally. The only thing Abel did was to prosper, to succeed. Some of us don’t know that the only thing you have Read the rest of this entry
Love Response
‘We’re not, understand, putting ourselves in a league with those who boast that they’re our superiors. We wouldn’t dare do that. But in all this comparing and grading and competing, they quite miss the point’ 2 Cor.10:12 [MSG].
Let your every response be deeply rooted in love. The love response comes from your new nature in Christ Jesus. You don’t overcome pride with pride. You only overcome pride with humility. And God is saying regardless of the challenge in your relationship, do not respond like Cain. Do not respond to the issue at hand in the flesh. The flesh by itself cannot love but in your new nature in God, love becomes the very fabric of your being. Do not respond as Cain, God says respond in love. Women are more gifted with their expressions Read the rest of this entry
Expected Response
‘…Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master’ Gen.4:7
How did God expect Cain to respond? Simple God said ‘why are you so angry? The Lord asked Cain. Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master’ Gen.4:6-7. God told Cain what was about to happen. Isn’t God amazing? God said to Cain this is about to happen to you. Subdue this thing, confront it, and deal with it. So God rejecting Cain’s offering and rejecting Read the rest of this entry
Count The Cost?
‘We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and his brother had been doing what was righteous’ 1 John.3:12.
It was not just about the offering, it was about the behavioral pattern of Cain. God must be honored. You cannot dishonor God in your day-to-day life and expect that you will play to the gallery and God will be impressed. God will not be impressed because your daily decisions may be personal but they are never private. In fact, they will eventually become public one day. You may think that it is personal but guess what, it is not really private. Look at the fig tree; it was boisterous with leaves, putting up a show. Jesus moved closer Read the rest of this entry
Acceptable Offering
Abel also brought a gift-the best of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift’ Gen.4:4.
David said, I will not offer to God something that will not cost me anything’. So we see from scripture that you cannot separate the man and his offering because the man is his offering and the offering is the man. An offering accepted is the man accepted and an offering rejected is the man rejected. I am praying that God will not reject your offering in the Name of Jesus. The Bible says that God rejected Cain and his offering but He accepted Abel and his offering. You need to make sure that your life is first acceptable to God. And how do Read the rest of this entry
The First And Best
‘Afterward the Lord asked Cain, where is your brother? Where is Abel? I don’t know, Cain responded. Am I my brother’s guardian? Gen.4:9
Sometimes when God asks you a question it does not mean He does not know the answer. Some situations we find ourselves in are questions and we must respond the way that God expects. Read Genesis 4:1-10. The first thing that will jump out at you from this passage of scripture is that it is not enough to bring an offering to God. It is not enough to give God an offering anyway you like. When you are bringing God an offering, never forget that God reserves the right to accept or reject that offering. Remember always to whom you Read the rest of this entry
Not As Cain
‘You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be it’s master’ Gen.4:7.
A lot of Christians have this question on their minds today; when people hurt me, how does God expect me to respond? Am I to take them in again and let the hurt happen again? Can I ever be vulnerable around such people again knowing what happened the first time? How can I ever trust him/her again? Some people refuse to go into a house fellowship, because they had been into a house fellowship before and had a bad experience. But guess what? If you walk into the right house fellowship, you’ll have the best experience of your life. Read the rest of this entry
Fulfillment
‘For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous’ 1John3:11-12 [NKJV].
The greatest fulfillment you will have in life will come from your relationships with people. That is, the people that God has put in your life. The greatest fulfillment you will have will not be from things. It will not be from the car you are driving, or the house you are living in, or the phone that you have, or the amount of money in your bank account. The greatest fulfillment you will ever experience will come from the relationships that God has put in your life. Relationships like our marriage relationship, relationships with our children, life Read the rest of this entry
Not Your Thoughts
‘My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine’ Isa.55:8.
Too often as children of God we ask too small and we want it too quickly. We want God to do “X” for us and probably the request is not what God would really want for us. Some of us even reason that we do not want to bother God with heavy requests or every request so we opt for just anything and not what our hearts truly desire. Meanwhile God does not want to give you just any job, He wants to establish you as an employer of labor over a period of time. Yet some of us even when we perceive what God’s long term plans are for our lives we Read the rest of this entry
