Genuine Repentance
‘Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked way, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land’ 2 Chro.7:14
The church is God’s agent for change in the society. We are the catalyst. Therefore the key to the change that we desire in our country lies in out hands. Jesus puts is this way, ‘who ever must lead amongst you must first be the servant’. Our job is to serve our country by standing the gap and going before God. The church in Nigeria must humble themselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from their wicked way. God has promised to hear from Read the rest of this entry
Fear
‘But as you have seen and heard, this man Paul has persuaded many people that handmade gods aren’t really gods at all. And he’s done this not only here in Ephesus but throughout the entire province!’ Acts 19:26
Please read Acts 19. Demetrius, a silversmith had a large business manufacturing silver shrines of the Greek goddess Artemis. He kept many craftsmen busy. When he saw that since Paul came into town everyone was now following this Jesus he became afraid because that meant he will loose a lot of business. So he gathered his fellow craftsmen together and they decided to stir up commotion out of fear of loosing business. The truth is that in most Read the rest of this entry
Costly Reward
‘In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted’ 2 Tim.3:12.
With the beatitudes, Jesus strikes down two major monsters in our Christian walk. The first monster Jesus struck down is the monster that says you can be saved without being changed. Jesus is saying the power to save you can and will change you. The second monster that Jesus struck down is the monster that ties materialism to blessedness. Jesus never said blessed are they that own mansions in the choicest parts of town for they shall be Read the rest of this entry
Shape Up!
‘Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us’ 2 Tim.3:16 [MSG]
We have to consistently rely on the Word to shape us up so that we can align with the tasks that God has for us. Some people want to know if it right for Christians who run restaurants to sell alcoholic drinks. Again for me this deals more with your relationship with the Father. What is your focus – the Kingdom or your pocket? ‘Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit’ Eph.5:18. While there Read the rest of this entry
Love And Obedience
‘And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?’ Matt. 16:26.
Knowing God is learning and understanding the things that He approves of and the things that don’t please Him. Loving God is moving beyond the afore mentioned into doing the things that please the Father. Jesus says ‘if you love me, obey my commandments’. John 14:15. So when a young lady comes to me and says she has been living with a man for five years and this man has paid her school fees. The first question is ‘do you really know the Father?’ Read the rest of this entry
Be Humble!
‘The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged’ Ps.69:32.
God gives grace to the humble and resists the proud! This is how it works, if you try to exalt yourself, God will find a way to humble you. And if you try to humble yourself, God will find a way to exalt you. Now you and I know that if God is looking for a way He will find a way, whichever way! If you choose the path of humility God will exalt you! I read a book a while back that changed my life and I want to recommend the book to you as well. When you see the invisible, you can do the impossible by Oral Roberts. I read this book Read the rest of this entry
Poor In Spirit
‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’ Matt.5:3 [NIV].
Jesus wants you and I to know today that the resources of heaven are at the disposal of the poor in spirit. So what does it mean to be poor in spirit? Does it mean I am poor in spirit when my bank account is reflecting a double negative? Of course not! To be poor in spirit simply means to realize one’s desperate need for God. For you and I to be poor in spirit means realizing our desperate need for God. Therefore if you are in fellowship simply because you want recognition for the material things you possess it means you have not Read the rest of this entry
Look Inward II
‘In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself’ Eph.5:28
People like to go where they are appreciated; husbands, wives, and singles please take note. Repeatedly husbands complain that their wives are disrespectful to them. There are many situations that usually would warrant this. Familiarity is one of the things that can warrant disrespect so wives please be careful because as human beings we treat with contempt what we are familiar with. Wives the onus is on you to refuse to see your husband as ordinary because he is not ordinary and vice versa. There is more to him than meets the Read the rest of this entry
Look Inward I
‘The husband should give his wife what she deserves as his wife. And the wife should give her husband what he deserves as her husband’ 1 Cor.7:3 [ERV].
One of the things marriage is about is companionship and this is what God intended from the beginning. ‘Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him’ Gen.2:18. It is for this purpose also that ‘…a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one’ Gen.2:24. In other words, the man lets go of his former life and begins a new one with his wife as his primary focus. Denying your spouse companionship is bound to hurt Read the rest of this entry
The Straight And Narrow II
‘For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep my self innocent for no reason? In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors’ Ps.73:3, 13, & 19
A lot of people today are envious of the people who disregard God’s way because they seem to be doing all the wrong things and getting all the right results. How come the unbelievers have it good and the righteous seem to be walking up a very steep hill? Please read Psalm 73, this was the same question on the mind of the psalmist. A lot of students today have begun to wonder if there is really anything wrong with cheating in an exam. After all, those who cheat seem to be getting great scores and moving unto the next level Read the rest of this entry
