Heart Check XII
‘The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise’ Ps.51:17 [KJV]
A Repentant heart. David had a repentant heart. Please read Psalm 51 it is a classic on repentance. Psalm 51 was written when David slept with Bathsheba [2Sam.11]. David was strolling on the rooftop when kings went to war. So David was at ease when he should be at war. And he mistakenly saw Bathsheba naked having her bath. If you mistakenly see something, shouldn’t you quickly escape? Many people erroneously think because they mistakenly fell Read the rest of this entry

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee’ Luke 1:26
When you read 1 Samuel 16: 1-13, another thing that stands out is God selected David. God skipped Eliab, skipped Abinadab, skipped Shimea, skipped four others and selected David. For God to do that, God said concerning Eliab ‘I have already rejected him’. I am praying today that that will not be your testimony from God. What made David acceptable and made Eliab detestable? What is that thing that makes us irresistible to God? I am praying that God will reveal it to us, in Jesus name. God selected David. Read the rest of this entry
What A Life of Drama!
Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.” 1 Sam.16:11
I am excited about what we will be studying over the next few weeks. This is the first time in eight years that I will be led to teach about David. Even though David is one of my favourite characters after Jesus. I am excited because I know that God is going to change our lives with His Word.
If you think that your life has drama then perhaps its time you take a look at the life of David. From the day he was even conceived Read the rest of this entry
Responsibility & Loyalty
‘When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over’ 2 Kings 4:7
Principle #1 is the principle of responsibility. God said to the woman, the first thing you do is pay your debt then live on the rest. The strange thing about a lot of us is that we don’t mind owing people and we don’t have a sense of responsibility towards them. How do you expect that you would prosper? It doesn’t work like that. My wife and I were running a business and we brought in these equipment for the business that were not cheap at all. There was one of them we were not using at Read the rest of this entry
For Your Good I
‘They even did more than we had hoped, for their first action was to give themselves to the Lord and to us, just as God wanted them to do’ 2 Cor.8:5
Prioritizing God is the best thing you can do for yourself whether you are married or single. Make God your desire and then let Him be the one to fulfill your desires. Are you single and sexually active, I have a question for you. Can you let sex go in pursuit of Christ Jesus? Can you do that for your sake, for the sake of your future spouse, and your destiny? Is that too much to ask you to do? Definitely not! Like some said, “Even in those moments when God is all that you have, Read the rest of this entry
The Key Of Communication II
‘But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden- except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, your are sure to die’ Gen.2:16-17
My mum is a teacher and she used to tell us that the teacher has not taught if the student has not understood. As a leader you have not communicated if the person you are talking to has not understood. When giving my colleagues an instruction, a lot of the time I watch them. When I think they do not understand what I am saying, I ask them to repeat it to me. Sometimes they tell me very strange things. With my colleagues that are Read the rest of this entry
Honorable Word
‘God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law… People who conceal their sins will not prosper, bit if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy’ Prov.28:9 & 13.
I have often heard people say they borrowed money without the knowledge of the owner. Some go ahead to invest the ‘borrowed’ money and then the investment crashes. Then they get into trouble with the owner whose first reaction is to bring them to justice. They pray and expect God to swoop in and save them. And when God does not respond they wonder why and what they should do. Scripture says ‘God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law’ Prov.28:9. Firstly, the reality is that you did not borrow the money. You stole Read the rest of this entry
Keep Your Life
‘For the Scriptures say, if you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it’’ 1Peter 3:10-11
‘In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created…’ John1:1-4. You and I have been created in the image of God. This also means that God has given us power in our mouths and the words we speak. Therefore as children of God we must watch every word that comes out of our mouth. ‘Those who control their Read the rest of this entry
Shalom
‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God’ Matt.5:9 [NIV]
Jesus is saying you cannot call yourself a child of God and be causing trouble everywhere you go. Jesus is saying you cannot say you are a child of God when consistently the trouble in your family can be traced back to you. You cannot call yourself a child of God when the trouble or gossip in your department constantly originates at your desk. Jesus is saying you cannot call yourself a child of God and be the architect or incubator of pandemonium. It Read the rest of this entry
Pay Attention
‘Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us’ Ecc.7:3
When you weigh everything that is really bothering you in light of eternity what does it amount to? If you check a funeral suit, there are no pockets because you cannot take your wallet with you. Your mobile phone someone else is going to use it. And who ever insists on being buried dressed in gold or with precious stones so they can bribe the angels on the way because some people think like that. After they have put them in the ground, that same night the people that will exhume the body and collect the jewelry are Read the rest of this entry
