Look & Learn

Philippians 3:13 “…but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.”

The light forward response to guilt is to Learn From The Past, without the past discouraging you from taking hold of your preferred future. One of the biggest things you can do for yourself is to learn from the past. Different people approach the past in different ways. Read the rest of this entry

By Light

John 10:10The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

We established yesterday that the first thing the enemy does when he sees a light forward life is to attack it with guilt. Have you never struggled with guilt? For most people, the answer will be yes but guess what? The truth is that you must also have experienced conviction. Read the rest of this entry

Not Guilty

Romans 8:1-2 “So now, those who are in Christ Jesus are not judged guilty. I am not judged guilty because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made me free. It made me free from the law that brings sin and death.” (ICB)

A drift is when someone unconsciously moves very slightly off his or her course like we see in the image attached. The course of the plane is point O to B, the line labelled C is the drift line. Initially, it seems like nothing significant but as the plane keeps moving, the drift becomes more and more obvious. Read the rest of this entry

Steward

Ephesians 5:15-17 “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

What do you do with what you know? God says, don’t live like fools. We erroneously think fools are people who do not know anything. But God’s word shows us that fools actually know a lot, but they do not do anything with what they know and that is what makes them fools. Read the rest of this entry

The Catalyst

Ephesians 5:15-17 “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

A young man walks up to me asking for my help with getting a job. Naturally, the first question I ask is, what do you want to do? Then he responds, ‘Any job, Pastor, any job will do’.  There is a sense of responsibility in that, and it portrays that he is open to taking any job as long as it puts food on his table. Purposefully

Ephesians 5:15-17 “So be careful to live your life wisely, not foolishly. Take advantage of every opportunity because these are evil times. Because of this, don’t be ignorant, but understand the Lord’s will.” (CEB)

To live light forward, there are a couple of things you and I must do. The first thing that I must do to live a light forward life is, I Have To Pay Close Attention To How I Conduct Myself. To live a light forward life, you must pay close attention to how you conduct yourself. Read the rest of this entry

Pick A Fight

Galatians 6:9 “Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing IF we don’t get discouraged and give up.” (LB, emphasis added).

The battle between what is right and what is easy is the battle between short term and long term. “…if we don’t get discouraged and give up”, the battle is usually between shortcuts and paying the price. “…if we don’t get discouraged and give up”, that is where the battle is. Proverbs 2:11 “Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.”

The first battle we need to win for our light to shine brightly is The Battle Between Selflessness And Selfishness. The second battle we need to fight and win for us to shine brightly is The Battle Between Forgiveness And Bitterness. Read the rest of this entry

Higher Way

Ephesians 4:26 “If you are angry, don’t sin by nursing your grudge. Don’t let the sun go down with you still angry—get over it quickly”. (LB).

Getting angry is not a problem. God says, you can get angry but do not sin. Do not go rejoicing just yet about your right to get angry. Wait! God’s Word says, Ephesians4:26Go ahead and be angry. You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge. And don’t stay angry. Don’t go to bed angry.” (MSG). Read the rest of this entry
