Moral Imperative II
‘The Lord said to Moses, “Get going, you and the people you brought up from the land of Egypt…Then Moses said, “if you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place’ Ex.33:1 & 15.
Does your vision deliver a moral imperative? Does your vision deliver a sense of responsibility so strong that it becomes an instruction for you? If you see someone that is lethargic and has no fire in his or her life, it’s a vision issue. It may be a suggestion for other people but for you it is an instruction. For some people it may be a suggestion; they do not have to work in a school for instance. But for me it is an instruction; I can’t do without Read the rest of this entry
Moral Imperative I
‘For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!’ 1Cor.9:16 [NKJV]
Yesterday, we began to talk about the question of burden as it relates to qualifying a dream or an idea. Let me just reiterate this point; do not go into what you don’t have a burden for. The fact that there is insecurity in the nation does not bother some people at all. So it cannot be the vision God has given them. If you find yourself as the chief security officer of a nation and it does not bother you that people are dying, you shouldn’t have that Read the rest of this entry
Differentiating
‘O Lord, listen to my cry; give me the discerning mind you promised’ Ps.119:169
The fact that something is possible does not mean it is plausible. The fact that something is possible does not mean you should pursue it. Just differentiating between these two will save you a lifetime of stress. At this point a lot of people would want to know what to look out for. So how do you know what could be that should be, especially now that you know that not everything that could be should be? How do I know what could be that should be? How do I know what dream qualifies to be the vision I should pursue – Read the rest of this entry
A Vulnerable Heart
‘I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night’ Ps.63:6
Everything starts with an idea. Many times when God wants to give us a vision for our lives, He starts by giving us a mental picture –an idea. Some of us get most of our ideas in the bathroom. Have you experienced getting songs in the bathroom? Have you ever wondered why? The reason is that when a lot of people come to church, even though people hear from God in church also, they are full of themselves. They seem like they are Read the rest of this entry
God’s Idea
‘I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations’ Jer.1:5.
Everything starts with an idea. You probably moved around today in a car; that car was somebody’s idea. Even if you walked, the shoes on your feet were someone’s idea. Even you reading this today, you are an idea, somebody’s idea. Sadly, for some reading this today, their parents told them that they were born mistakenly or they should have been flushed down the drain. Have you heard some parents say that very nasty thing? Guess what, you are God’s idea. They just didn’t know but God had you in mind. For some, their parents tried to abort Read the rest of this entry
Could Be & Should Be
‘I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all’ Ecc.9:11 [KJV].
We are delving deeper in engineering your dreams and we trust that God will help us, in Jesus Name. ‘I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.’ Ecc.9:11. This scripture on the surface kind of suggests that life is just by luck. But we are going to learn that that is really not what this scripture is saying. The word engineering defined by Wikipedia.com means the science and art of acquiring and applying practical knowledge in order to design build and maintain structures, machines, devices, systems, materials, and processes. Big definition! Engineering simply means the science and the art of taking an idea from inspiration to fruition. In application, engineering your dreams means the science and the art of taking your dreams from idea stage of inspiration into the reality stage of fruition. And by dreams, we mean a mental picture of what could be. Having a dream is the first step but you need to receive a vision. Now it starts with a dream [a mental picture of what could be], a vision on the other hand is a mental picture of what could be and should be. The mental picture could be still, motion, motion picture with sound, still picture with sound, or without sound of what could be and should be. Vision is so important in leadership. All of us are leaders in one capacity or the other; you cannot lead without vision. If a blindfold is put around your eyes and you are told to run, how far can you run? If you run at all, you will probably be trying to feel what is in front of you lest you bump into a wall. Similarly, if you are a leader leading your home, business, family, life without a vision, you are apparently groping. And I pray that will come to an end today in Jesus Name. ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish…’ Prov.29:18 [KJV]. Read the rest of this entry
Seek Wisdom, Secure Favour
‘All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people…’ 2 Tim.3:16-17
There are things that God will show you that are just for you. Be wise not to share it with anyone. I don’t think that is what God wants you to do; perhaps just your spouse alone, but do it wisely. ‘Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures’ Prov.2:2-4. This is why you need to have a relationship with Read the rest of this entry
Major Shift
And they replied, “We both had dreams last night, but no one can tell us what they mean.” “Interpreting dreams is God’s business,” Joseph replied. “Go ahead and tell me your dreams.” Gen.40:8
In God’s Favourite House, our vision is to be filled with the life of Christ Jesus, and released into our destinies, taking the world for Him. The fulfillment of our destiny is when you are released into your destiny. When you are propagating your dream and you make your own dream priority, you will land yourself in prison. Even your brothers will hate you. When you make it about other people’s dreams and you use your own dream to serve Read the rest of this entry
Timing
‘For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven’ Ecc.3:1.
I learnt a three-pronged strategy for resting from Rick Warren and I will share it with you again today. I have used it for years and it is so effective. You deflect daily, you withdraw weekly, and you abandon annually. Deflecting daily simply means every day there are things I do that are just mundane. It could be a wrestling match with my wife; we are not fighting but just tumbling around. Or ‘I touch you last’ [Tag you’re it] game; do Read the rest of this entry
God Sized
‘I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint’ Hab. 2:1.
Firstly, to receive a dream, go to the balcony. When we were growing up, the balcony was where my father would lounge and read his newspaper in the cool of the evening breeze. To you and I, the balcony is a picture of relaxation; a place where you are relaxed and in tune with God. It is a place where you go to get an idea from heaven. ‘I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint’ Hab. 2:1. Habakkuk said, ‘I will set my watch’, meaning I will go Read the rest of this entry
