The Culture Box I

‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect’ Rom.12:2

The second thing that attempts to box God in our lives is our culture. Culture is the summation of socially transmitted behavioral patterns and beliefs. Like tradition, culture is not necessarily bad but when the culture of the world does not align with the culture of the Kingdom then we experience a culture clash. We are in the world, so there are parts of the culture of the world that Read the rest of this entry

The Tradition Box III

‘Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect’ Rom.12:2

It has to be all about Jesus Christ in every Christian endeavor. This calls for a deliberate attempt to live our lives according to the Word of God and not according to the dictates of tradition. Today you find churches where tradition attempts to limit the move of the Spirit of God. The only thing that must not change in the way a Church does things is their adoration of the person of Jesus Read the rest of this entry

The Tradition Box II

‘And so you cancel the Word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others’ Mark 7:13

You cannot afford to allow tradition restrict the efficacy of God’s Word in your life. The sad part is that many people do not even question these traditions; they just adopt them because it is the way things had been done in the past. But why are you doing what you are doing? Have you ever asked why your family is not allowed to marry people from the other tribe? Some of these so called traditions that have become limitations were formed because someone had a mismanaged Read the rest of this entry

The Tradition Box I

‘And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others’ Mark 7:13

Jesus died so that we can enter into the fullness of our relationships with God. When God is unleashed in your life, there are heights that He will take you to that if you were to be told now, you probably will doubt. Unfortunately, in our lives there are things that attempt to put God in a box. Things that attempt to restrict the full manifestation of God. Box God meaning, God becomes Read the rest of this entry

In Need?

‘So God set another time for entering His rest, and that time is today. God announced this… Today when you hear his voice,  don’t harden your hearts’ Heb. 4:7.

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most’ [Heb.4:16]. It is so comforting to discover that God Almighty has accessed and classed our needs. He did not stop there; He decided to extend an invitation to you and I to obtain ‘grace to help us when we need it most’. When do you Read the rest of this entry

Place of Worship

‘So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most’ Heb.4:16

Something happened when Jesus shouted His last and gave up His spirit. Something that changed the course of history forever and changed the place of worship forever.  The release of the Spirit brought about the tearing of the curtain top to bottom. In other words, through Jesus and by His Spirit you and I can access the place of worship that once laid behind the veil. Jesus granted us access to enter beyond the place where the priests could and into the place where the Ark of Read the rest of this entry

The Outer Court

‘For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom’ 2 Cor.3:17

In time past, God chose for a dispensation a method of worship, that is, when the children of Israel want to worship, God said they should set up a tent of the meeting where man will meet with God. ‘Have the people of Israel build Me a holy sanctuary so I can live among themEx.25:8. The tabernacle has three sections – the outer court, the holy place and the most holy Read the rest of this entry

You Need To Know VI

‘When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers’ Acts 2:6

You need to know that God intrudes. God does not always mind His business. Thank God He does not always mind his business.  For the people in the scripture reference, it seemed as though God had just intruded in their lives. God intrudes with ‘Attention Getters’. Attention getters usually shake the person to their very foundation. Many of us have loved ones who have refused to serve God. Perhaps it’s time to ask God to intrude in their lives and send attention getters. It is a Read the rest of this entry

You Need To Know V

‘Truly, O God of Israel, our Savior, You work in mysterious ways’ Isa.45:15

‘This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayedHab.2:3.  Today’s devotional is a continuation of yesterday’s discourse. You need to know that God will commit to ‘what’ but He will not always commit to ‘how’. Joseph knew the ‘what’ – he was going to be above his brothers. He knew this for a fact because God showed him ‘what’ was to come. Joseph Read the rest of this entry

You Need To Know IV

‘Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Saviour’ Isa.45:15 [KJV]

You need to know that God commits to ‘what’ but doesn’t always commit to ‘how’. God, most of the time, will commit to ‘what’ He will do. He will commit to His promises for you. He will commit to the big picture that He has for you. He will make personal promises to you, perhaps in the area of fruitfulness, finances, promotions or establishment. God commits to ‘what’ but God never commits to ‘how’. The ‘how’ He will do it stays with Him. I have a feeling that God does not Read the rest of this entry
