Spiritual Insight

“For as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about” Acts 17:23.

An altar is a place where divinity meets with humanity. An altar is a place where God [the Maker of the heavens and earth] meets with us [human beings]. Any place God chooses to meet man or man discovers that God is, becomes an altar. Remember the two key things when it comes to an altar are Faith and Sacrifice. Without faith it is impossible to please God because he that comes to God must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. So the first thing that makes your altar effective is faith. When you are raising your altar to God, you must believe that God will respond, and He will in Jesus Name. An altar without a sacrifice really is not an altar. The sacrifice is what provokes a response from God; it is what the fire of God comes from heaven and devours.

Please read Acts 17:22-23. While Paul walked through Athens, he noticed that they had altars to every god they knew but they had one altar to a God they did not know [an unknown God]. So Paul was saying to them, he had come to talk to them about the unknown God. Our heart is the altar of God but the truth is that many of us have altars for other gods. Listen carefully, it may shock you but strangely some Christians still visit shrines. They live in the same house with you, come to church with you, but they have things they are conjoining. It is my prayer that every one of such altars will be nullified, in Jesus Name. This is just the interesting reality of Christianity, largely in this part of the world [Africa] but not restricted only to this part of the world. Folks are still patronizing false prophets. You know he is a false prophet; you claim not to visit him personally but because you need prayers, you are sending money through your relative so that he can fast for you. So you send money to a priest of the devil and they raise an altar for you. Then you go to church, fast and pray, you partake in every spiritual exercise and you are wondering why your prayers are not being answered. I will tell you. There are altars that are speaking contradictorily against your prayers, altars that you have raised by yourself. Unfortunately, a lot people don’t know that those altars, rather than speak for them are speaking against them. The intention could be good but the spiritual realm is not ruled by intentions; it is ruled by dictates and by ordinances. Today, we must stand in the place of prayer, repent, and actually pull down those altars.

Prayer: Father, I ask that You send angels to come and cut down the horns of every altar that is speaking against me and that is speaking contrary to my prayers, in Jesus Name.
