Foundation Stone I

Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” 2Tim.2:15

#1. STUDY. Be a master in your field. Master your field! If your field is make-up then be the best make-up artist there is. This is one of the things we were taught from when we were very young. If your job is to sweep then be the best in that field. If all you are doing is cleaning then make sure you are the best cleaner. Some people think they cannot invest in excellence until they become a CEO. No! Be diligent [study] and be the best in your field. Study to show yourself approved unto God…”. Paul was talking to Timothy a young Pastor saying, man of God commit yourself to studying. Many people do not study; if you are one of such people reading this devotional today, be sure Jesus is changing you right now. Many of us are mentally lazy and so applying our minds is difficult. The story is told of how when Bill Gates was a little boy, his mother was searching for him all around the house. He was in his room thinking, probably of how to solve a software problem. When his mother finally found him and asked where he had been, he said he had been thinking. He then asked his mother, “Don’t you think?” That question is just so loaded. Don’t you think? A lot of people do not think. For your life to count you have to study, you have to engage your mind.

Statistically it has been shown that the way people learn to use a device in the first ten days is essentially the way they will use that device for the life of the device. You get a phone and it comes with a manual but for the first ten days you scramble to find your way round the device. Most people use the functions they learn in the first ten days for the next three years, that is if they have that phone for three years. And in many cases, neglecting ninety percent of the functionality of that device. Why spend over a hundred thousand to get a phone, and use only ten percent of what the phone has to offer? The reason is because many times we get phones just to show off. You get the newest model of the iPhone, put it in an attractive case. Then you go for a meeting, drop the phone on the table and put your hands in your pocket. Just showing off meanwhile you cannot even use the phone properly. This just shows how fickle people are. People like that really don’t live a significant life. It is scary because a lot of people live like that. I see someone who is struggling to make a phone do manually what it was built and automated to do. So I show the person how to use it and it always amazes me how shocked they are that their phone can perform such functions. And their excuse is I just need a phone to call and receive calls, then get a basic phone.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please birth in me a new hunger for expertise and a desire to give myself to studying so that I will increase in mental capacity, in Jesus Name.
