Doubt

“And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief” Matt.13:58

Doubt is something that cripples the work of God in our lives. Doubts limit the acts and the actions of God in our lives. God wants to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ever ask or imagine. When we begin to doubt God, we are placing a limit on Him even though He cannot be limited. But as far as we are concerned we are limiting Him when we doubt Him. Jesus as much as He was all God and had all the power in heaven and on earth couldn’t do much even in His own town because of unbelief. “And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief” Matt.13:58. I mean this was Jesus, the same Jesus that walked on water and raised the dead. All the power in heaven and on earth was present in that town but it could not do much. Similarly, many times it appears that God is not doing much in our lives but in truth it is because of our doubts.

This season, beginning today, I am trusting that God will remove doubts from our lives in Jesus Name. “But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinningMatt.14:23 . This Scripture just shows you and I how important and how heavy doubts can be spiritually especially to us as believers. Anything that is not done in faith, another translation says, is sin. That is how serious doubt is. So God is saying even if you have food in front of you and you have a doubt, do not eat it until you resolve your doubts. It is that fundamental. Seeing that doubt has arisen, it is proof that something needs to be sorted out [resolved]. God is saying do not just ignore it and go ahead. Doubt tries to cast aspersions on our gratitude to God. God just delivered you but doubt will say it is just a coincidence. So doubt robs us of our gratitude. Doubt prevents us from coming before God and saying thank You. Thank You Lord for saving me, thank you for saving my wife, thank you for saving my husband, thank you for saving my children. Doubt tries to make common the miraculous, tries to make ordinary what is extraordinary. And God wants us to live beyond doubt because our lives are supposed to be limitless. As a church [God’s Favourite House], one of our values is No Small Dreams [NSD]. Meaning, we are not to put any limit on God. If God says do A, we are going to do A whether we can afford A or not. And as we step out in faith, provision will come.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please rid my heart totally of doubt so that I will not limit what You are doing in my life, in Jesus Name.
