Imitate God

“Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” Rom.2:4

Some people feel they need to be controlled and brought under submission. Such people do not respond to kindness, goodness, and to benevolence, they only respond to terror. Before I met my wife, I was dating another lady that I thought I was going to get married to but the relationship went south. And some Pastor’s wife approached me, she was of the impression that I had broken off the relationship. She said she had been watching me act all loving, opening doors and opening car doors for her. She said some of us [women] like to be slapped once in a while. My response was, I was not going to become like that but rather I would find someone who would respond to my kindness. The key thing is this, as children of God, we should not be like that. Paul says, don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is to you, does this mean nothing to you? I know a man that he only has major problems in his marriage when he is really nice to his wife. That is when she will begin to give him hell. As children of God that ought not to be, the goodness and kindness of God should bring us closer to God.

Our third response to God’s goodness is to increase our goodness to one another. They who obtain mercy should show mercy. It is an unbroken chain because they shall obtain mercy and they that have obtained mercy should show mercy so that they can have mercy. That is how to keep an unbroken chain of blessedness in your life. You have received the kindness and the goodness of God, God wants you to respond to His goodness by showing goodness to other people. Has God been good to you? Then respond by increasing your goodness to another person. “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear childrenEph5:1. Imitate God! As God is crowning this year with goodness, what should you be doing? You should be imitating Him. You too should crown the year with goodness and that is why the culture of giving in December is a fantastic culture. Don’t focus on yourself or your needs and cut the budget, just give. You have been putting smiles on people’s faces in December, so please continue. Cut any other budget but do not cut the budget for putting smiles on people’s faces. You also crown this year with goodness for others.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please give me a heart like Yours, so that like Jesus I will do what I see my heavenly Father doing, in Jesus Name.
