Infinitely Good

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord…  Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Wait for the Lord.”  Psalm 27:13-14 [NAS, emphasis added]

Problems attempt to make us perplexed until we are depressed. #2: When Your Situation Looks DEPRESSING, Think About The Goodness of God. Depression is a signal that our focus is on the wrong things. When discouragement and depression want to set in, it is proof that I have been focusing on the wrong things. Personally, I thank God for the grace to be alert enough to spot traces of discouragement or depression. And as soon as I do, I think clearly about what I have been focusing on.

Interestingly, my focus has shifted to what this person said or did not say, what this person should have said or not have said, or will this person ever say or not say… That is proof that I have been focusing on the wrong things. And it points to the fact that I have forgotten all that God has said to me and all that God has blessed me with. In fact, depression is caused by the trap of exaggeration. The enemy tries to blow things out of proportion.

The enemy exaggerates what is or what could be. So someone that has been criticized concludes that nobody likes him or her. In reality, that is not the real scenario but just an exaggeration. Only one person does not like you, one! And for every twelve there is Judas. Which means that for every Judas, there are eleven others that are loyal and devoted to you. I learnt that the hard way but you do not learn these kind of things any easier.

I am an all or nothing person. Staying on the fence is not a gift that I have. I am a white or black person, I know some people have the gift of grey. They can say things that they do not consider “really a lie”. For me it is either a lie or it is the truth. So I go all in into my relationships [leg, hand, head, everything]. Something happened and I was daggered brutally. So I was sulking to God. Yes, I sulk to God and I report people to God; where else would I go? I was reporting the people to God and He said to me, stop! There were more people that love you than people that hate you. He said, are you now going to be defined by those that do not like you? I was healed immediately! Jesus wants you to know that He loves you, and His people love you.

Prayer [song]: I have seen the Lord’s goodness, His mercy and compassion. I have seen the Lord’s goodness, Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Amen!
