Purity Is Possible!

“God wants you to be pure and to keep clear of all sexual sin…  For God has not called us to be dirty-minded and full of lust but to be holy and clean” 1 Thes.4:3,7 [LB, emphasis added]

God wants us to think clearly about sex. The question is how does one stay pure in a sex-saturated world? How does one stay pure in a world that is bombarded with sexual images, sexual nuances and with intense sexual pressure? I wondered about this myself in the past. So I am going to show you how and I trust that God will empower you to stay pure, in Jesus Name. How to stay pure in a sex-saturated world- four things:

#1. Make commitment to God’s Standard. Sometimes, we think this sexual pressure is happening only in our own time. But David also had tremendous sexual pressure. In fact, in Psalms 119:9 David says, “How can [anyone] keep his way pure?  By living according to Your Word.” [NIV].  The New King James Version reads, “…How can a young man cleanse his way?” David asked this same question we are asking today and he got the answer. The answer is “By living according to Your Word”, according to God’s Word.

Sex is God’s idea. You did not invent sex, you met it here and when you are gone, it will still be here. The fact that you are alive today is because it happened. God invented sex. He designed it. The person that knows how something should work optimally, is the person that designed it. If you drive a Mercedes Benz, the best place to service that car will be at a Mercedes Benz service center. If you drive a Ferrari, you do not just stop by any mechanic workshop. You would probably want to go to the manufacturer, to the person that designed it. God designed sex and God designed sex for three purposes.

1. For Pleasure
2. For Total Bonding
3. For Procreation

Total bonding means sex is not only physical, it is also emotional. It is one activity that affects your body, your soul and your spirit. During sexual intercourse there is a spiritual exchange, a soul mingling. God wants us to think clearly about sex.
