Seek Him

“You will search for me. And when you search for me with all your heart, you will find me! I will let you find me,” says the Lord…” Jer.29:13-14 [NCV]

Zacchaeus did two things right. The first was that he realized that he needed God. And the second was Zacchaeus went seeking Jesus. You cannot just sit down in your spot; you need to make the move. Seek and you will find. Read the Bible, talk with Christians, fellowship, read books, and listen to the messages – just seek Jesus! I have paraphrased today’s Scripture reference to read, And I will seek God and find God when I search for God with all my heart.” Jer.29:13 [paraphrased]. I have personalized it. This is how you and I must relate to God’s Word. So I want you to say aloud, “I will seek God and find God when I search for Him with all my heart”. Do it again and this time say the words slowly and let it sink in. “I will seek God and find God when I search for Him with all my heart”. The reason people are not finding God as it were, is because we are not seeking God with all our hearts.

Why would Jesus go into Zacchaeus’ house? It is because Jesus will go wherever He is welcomed. Jesus will go to where there is room for Him. The question you and I need to answer is, is there room for Jesus in your heart and is He welcome in your heart? Remember when Jesus was about to be born, Mary and Joseph went to the Inn and there was no room there for Jesus. They went everywhere and found no room until they got to a stable. And because there was room for Jesus in a stable, Jesus came in. Your status does not matter; what matters is, do you have room for Jesus? Some of us do not have room for Him anymore. We do not have room to even worship God, to read our Bibles, or to go on our knees and pray. But God is saying, be like Zacchaeus.

Why would Jesus choose Zacchaeus? Was he the most handsome? I do not think so. Was he the wisest? Perhaps not. Was he the tallest? Obviously not. Was he the worst sinner in that place? I do not even think so. There probably were people close to Jesus that were worse sinners than Zacchaeus. So, why Zacchaeus? He was hungrier than the rest and the one that had his hunger on display. That was why Jesus located him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I will seek You and I will find You because I will search for You with all my heart, all my soul, and all my might, in Jesus Name.
