Ten Over Ten

Ecc.9:11 “…The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives….”

Favour will open the door and give you an opportunity but, if you are not strong, fast, skillful, educated and wise, that opportunity will pass by. If you do not work on your speed, your strength, your wisdom, your skill, and your education, you will miss it. However, you will be fast, you will be strong, you will be wise, you will be skillful and you will be educated. So for you to consistently win the race, win the battle, not go hungry, be wealthy, and live a successful life, you need consistent favour.

When the Scripture says that the swift does not always win the race, it means that the swift mostly wins the race. The fastest runner mostly wins the race. The strong mostly wins the battle. The wise mostly do not go hungry. When the Bible says the skillful are not necessarily wealthy, it tells me that the default state of the skillful is wealth. The educated are mostly successful.

So most of the time, the fastest person wins and most of the time the strongest person wins. Most of the time, the most skillful gets the wealth. On a scale of one to ten, ‘Most’ would be a seven. If I am swift, strong, wise, skillful and educated, seven out of ten times I will be successful. In order to flip the remaining three times, to attain the perfect score of success [ten out of ten], I add favour – that is how to be successful one hundred percent of the time.

Take the game of football for example; you have the international clubs and the local clubs. If the most skilled local club should play the most skilled international club, what will be the result in ten matches? Who would mostly win? I love Nigerians; we believe in that miraculous factor. I admit that it is good but, I am sorry to disappoint you – nine out of ten times the international club will win. They will win because they are fast, strong, wise, skillful and educated. Can the local club ever win? It is possible; one streak of favour can make it happen. But will it be consistent? You are not wiser than God and He says – The skillful mostly wins, the stronger mostly wins, the faster mostly wins, the most educated [the tactical] mostly wins.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please increase my capacity for speed, strength, wisdom, skill, and the capacity for knowledge, in Jesus Name.
