Be Wise

Pro.12:26The godly give wise advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.”

You have to be true to yourself and accept the fact that everyone, including you, has a blind spot. Otherwise, you will not appreciate the people God puts around you to tell you the truth. When you recognize that God speaks through Other Believers, you are better positioned to listen for His voice in conversations. But take note; the fact that God has spoken through somebody does not reduce the fact that God has spoken to you. As far as heaven is concerned, God has spoken to you. It is your business if you want to listen or not.

God speaks to me through my mother sometimes and it saves me a lot of heartache. There are many times in church that listening to other ministers or pastors has saved me a lot of heartache. Sometimes people upset me and because of my temperament, my first instinct is to confront them. But guess what? I run it by another believer and because I actually listen, I am able to adjust how I handle the case and watch God do what only He can do.

You cannot be an island. I often say to ladies, never marry a man that does not listen to anybody. Look, if you have someone that does not have people that can tell him to sit down and he obeys, if you ever marry him, you are marrying into hell. Every man must have people in his life that can look him in the face, (even if he may not like it) and still tell him the truth. And guess what? It is not limited to men alone. Everybody needs it.

Prov.12:15 [TEV] “Stupid people always think they are right. Wise people listen to advice.”  I am a Pastor by God’s grace yet I have just listed a couple of people that do that for me. God has put people around you and trust me, you need them. Do you have such people in your life? If you don’t, you need to get people around you now. You need to join a life group. You need to be accountable to people. You need to be vulnerable to people. Now take note that not only do you need such people in your life, you need to be that kind of person to other people. You need to be the kind of person that will love people too much to keep quiet.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me always recognize Your voice and accord it the value and obedience Your voice deserves, in Jesus Name.
