Matt.6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name” [KJV, emphasis added]

Jesus does not only give us a pattern of prayer, He also instructs us to pray like this.  Jesus says the first thing you do when you approach God, is to worship. Matt.6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Jesus says the second thing is to be Kingdom minded. This means praying for your pastor and your church family. You pray for missionaries, for the Word of God to prosper on earth, and for the churches that are being persecuted on earth. You pray for God’s Kingdom even in your work place; that it will be filled with God’s Presence. You pray for your environment so that everyone that steps into the street will feel God’s Presence and the will of God will be done.

Matt.6: 11 Give us this day our daily bread. Jesus says the next thing you pray for is provision. Sometimes Christians are too spiritual for God. Some people say they feel selfish when they ask God to bless them. Well, I do not have such feelings. In fact, I pray that God blesses me more and more. Why should I feel bad when Jesus says I should pray for my daily bread [for provision]? If Jesus, the One that came to die for our sins, the One that took time out to lay out a pattern for prayer decides to include asking for daily bread, then who am I not to ask for daily bread. God is your Father, do not be afraid or ashamed to ask for provision from Him.

One of my friends said he believed that God wants us to walk by faith and just live day by day. We are not to ask for abundance but ask for just enough for the day because God called it daily bread. So I asked him if he owned a freezer and that ended the discussion. You have a freezer and inside that freezer there is food that can last you for at least two weeks. My point is this – God can bless you in one day with enough wealth that will feed five generations yet unborn. And He would be answering, “Give us this day our daily bread!” Do you receive that? My advice to you is you better get a freezer and while you are at it, you better open a bank account in different currencies.

Prayer: My Father in Heaven, I worship You. Let Your Kingdom come and let Your will be done in my sphere of influence and provide for me and my family, in Jesus Name. Amen!
