The Power

Rom.4:17 “…Abraham believed in the God… 18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” [with emphasis]

Abraham kept hoping even when everything was speaking contrary- his body was speaking contrary, his wife’s body was speaking contrary, and even his culture was speaking contrary. Abraham’s friends must have had a field day mocking him, – from Abram [exalted father] to Abraham [father of nations] and still no children; he must have been the subject of every joke.

Even though everything was speaking contrary, Abraham believed and maintained a single line of command. If God has said it concerning me then I believe that I would become a father of many nations. But why did Abraham believe? He believed because God had spoken to him. Is God’s Word dependable? Can you go to bed knowing that God has said xzy? Is that enough for you? Holding on to God’s promises unleashes the power to prevail.

Everybody is going to have challenges but some of us are going to prevail over our challenges and come out stronger. And the reason is because we will hold on to God’s Word. God says align yourself with me, you say you want to align yourself with sin. Then what happens? You have a conflicting line of command because sin dominates. Rom.6:16Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living”. If you yield your members to God, you are God’s servant – single line of command.

Why should we depend on God or on His Word? Heb.6:17 God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. 18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie…” [with emphasis]. God says you will be above only and you will never be beneath. You can bank on it because God is dependable. God has said you are going to have victory. You can bank on it. However, we must remember that the power to prevail is released when you become a child of God.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that all power belongs to You. Lord, fill my life with the power to prevail in every situation for Your Name sake, in Jesus Name. Amen!
