Future Peace

Ecc.8:7 “For no one knows what is going to happen, so who can warn him before it does?” [Voice]

Human beings have an innate desire to know the future. This is why we have so many people predicting the future. Every year, different people come up with predictions of what the year holds. The business people come up with business predictions and anyone that has anything to do with anything spiritual, comes up with its own predictions. There are a lot of confusing and contradicting predictions out there because everybody just wants to have a say about what will happen in the future.

A lot of people are curious about the future and their curiosity drives them to several things and different sources. Some people look to crystal balls and some check the horoscope. At some point, the horoscope section of the newspaper had the most traffic. A man meets a lady and they want to check the horoscope to find out if they will be a good match. People just like to have a glimpse into the future. Statistically, twenty-one percent of born again Christians in the United States believe in the horoscope. And seventy four percent of that twenty one percent are women. No offence, ladies; it is just statistics. Women are curious to know what will happen to their husbands and to their children in the future.

Ecc.8:7 “Since no one knows the future,  who can tell someone else what is to come?” [NIV, with emphasis] The Word of God is clear concerning the future – no man knows the future. A lot of people are fretting because they do not know what will happen tomorrow. So over the next few says we are going to conquer the fear of the future by God’s grace and learn how to confidently face the future.

The first step to confidently facing the future, is to have a proper perspective. What is the proper perspective? The proper perspective is not in the horoscopes but in God’s Word. Deut.29:29 “The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions”. So relax!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I do not know what will happen tomorrow but I know You, the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow. You are my peace, in Jesus Name. Amen!
