Love Gives

Matt.25: 37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you …drink? 40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”

You have not begun to worship until the people that have no clue about God look at you and conclude that you are foolish. Worship can be ridiculous. How can wise men bow to a baby?

In the natural mind, what these wise men did does not align with wisdom at all. How can wise men bow to a baby that cannot even talk?

The wise men brought gold – gold signifies the kingship of Jesus. They brought frankincense – frankincense signifies the priesthood of Jesus. They brought myrrh – myrrh signifies the prophetic destiny and line of Jesus. Myrrh is what is used to embalm a dead body. Bodies embalmed in myrrh are meant to last forever. “And forever oh Lord, Your Word is settled…” Bring your gifts as an act of worship.

God expects us to take His gift to men. And this is so important because we cannot say we love a God we cannot see if we do not love the people we can see. We serve God by serving people. We love God by loving people. Jesus puts it this way in Matt.25:35 “For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me… 40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”

What does this translate to for you and me? God is saying bring your gifts as an act of worship but do not stop there; take those gifts to men. This Christmas, God is saying look around you and channel the “extras” to the people who have nothing. Jesus wants us to take our gifts to men because love gives. You cannot love without giving. God has chosen you to be His hands, to be His legs, and to take His gifts to people. You probably have planned your holiday in advance, scheduled family time and so on. But that plan has to be interrupted a little bit for Jesus. This season, as you plan your celebration, plan a gift for that stranger that God Himself will lead you to because faith without works is dead.

Prayer [hymn]: Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of Thy love; Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee, Swift and beautiful for Thee. Amen!
