Let Go & Let God!

Ps.32:8  “The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you”

You cannot step up while looking back. Phil.3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.You cannot step up if you keep looking at the past. God is telling us in His Word that sometimes we must forget the past – pains, regrets, shortcomings, failures, and the things we wish we could have done better. It is in the past!

Take climbing a staircase or climbing a ladder for instance. It is extremely difficult to climb a staircase or a ladder while walking backwards. If you insist on climbing up backwards, you probably would stumble and fall. Similarly, you cannot step up if you are engrossed with the regrets and the losses experienced in the past. Yes the pain, the regret and the losses are real but God is saying move forward because what has passed is past. Let it go!

You have a choice, are you going to wallow in the pain of the past or are you going to move forward? There is more in your future than what was in your past. But do you actually believe that the best is yet to come? If you do, then declare it out loud. As you have spoken it in God’s ears, so shall it be, in Jesus Name. It is not a cliché. It is not just something to make you feel good. It is actually the truth. Our best days are still ahead of us; so get fired up.

However, sometimes when God is saying we should look forward and step up, it is not necessarily from a loss or regret. Paul’s case for example: he had done a lot of great things for God but Paul chose to put them behind so that he could reach forward into greater things. Sometimes, what is holding people back from stepping up is actually the good things and not necessarily the bad things. The challenge to stepping up for some is the good things God has done in their lives. It sounds ridiculous I know; but in reality, many times that is what many people struggle with. But God is saying, “ let it go so that you can step up”.

Prayer [song]: Lord, I offer my life to You, everything I’ve been through, use it for Your glory. Lord, I offer my days to You, lifting my praise to You, as a living sacrifice. Lord I offer You my life. Amen!
