Look – Listen Up!

Rev.4:¹ “Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this”.

We will continue to focus on the four things necessary for stepping up spiritually outlined in Revelations 4:1.

#1. Look Up! For you to step up, you have to look up. The Bible says, “Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven…” Meaning he was already looking up and that is why he saw the open door. For you and I to step up spiritually, we have to look up. There may be things pressurizing you on every side but God is saying to you, “Look up!” There may be things casting aspersions even to your face but God is saying, “Look up!” A lot of things are pushing you to give up but God is saying, “Do not give up, look up because your help is coming”.

2Cor.4:¹⁸ “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” How can you look at what cannot be seen? You look at what can be seen with your physical eyes [with the eyes that can be seen]. You look at what cannot be seen with the eyes that cannot be seen [with your spiritual eyes]. You fix your eyes on what cannot be seen with your inner eye. And when you do that, you realize that there is so much more to life than what we will eat, drink, and wear. There is so much more to life than the things that we see. For you to go up, you have to look up.

# 2. Listen Up! For you to step up, you have to listen up. “…and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here…” He was listening. You have to listen up if you want to step up. You have to listen to what God is saying. And it is because it is the voice of the same God that instructed you, that will promote you; so you better pay attention. What is God saying concerning your marriage, or your business, or your giving? What is God saying about where to go, or who to help, or about where to stay? What is God saying about who to witness to? What God is saying is the most important question of our lives.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I choose to look up to You where my help comes from and listen up for Your voice- my necessary food, in Jesus Name. Amen!
