Body of Proof

1 Kings 18: ³⁶ “…O Lord …prove today that you are God in Israel… Prove that I have done all this at your command. ³⁸ Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water…”

In God’s Favourite House, we are totally grateful for the Presence of the Holy Spirit and we are grateful that at every meeting, it pleases the Holy Spirit to deliver the burden of proof that He is alive. The burden of proof is His way of saying, “I am alive, I am here and I am in charge.” And that is important for us as Christians because apart from the power of the risen Christ, we are not different from a social club.

Mark 16:¹⁷ “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. ¹⁸ They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” Why will these signs follow witnesses? It is the burden of proof that lies with the person making the claim. Since your God is alive – prove it! That is why Elijah said, “Call on your idols and I will call on my God; the God that answers by fire, that is the God the nation will serve” [paraphrased from 1 Kings 18]. Never, ever be a prophet without fire; it would be an embarrassing occupation. Never be a child of God without the power of the Holy Spirit; it will be a frustrating experience. Today, you will receive power, in Jesus Name.

I served under Pastor Psalm Samuel during my stay in Northern Nigeria. I am a third generation believer; my grandma was a believer and my mum is a believer. But under Pastor Psalm, I saw faith in a way that I had never seen it before. I had been with this man at a vigil and people were raining stones at us. So while evangelizing one day, he asked the people to bring out their blind and cripple. While he was doing that, I was busy surveying the terrain for escape routes. They then brought a 5year old boy that had not walked in his life. Pastor Psalm began to pray; I was saying Amen from a distance and guess what? Body of proof delivered; the boy walked, Jesus is Alive. My faith went to another level. The witness could make sense because of the Presence of the power of God.

Prayer: Lord, let the power of The Most High God rest upon me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
