Love So Amazing!

John 10:17 “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

“It is finished!” Jesus said and He took the key to death and hell from satan and bruised his head. He was taking the Blood, the atoning sacrifice to the altar in heaven and he was leading captivity captive. This was the most crucial part of the assignment. And on the way, Jesus heard Mary’s voice crying and asking, “Where have you taken my Lord?” Taking the Blood to the altar was the most important thing at that moment but the Bible says in Matt.12:20 (KJV) “A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench…”

Psa.34:18The Lord is close to the broken hearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” So, Jesus turned to Abraham, David, Job, Joshua and the others and pleaded with them to give Him a few minutes to attend to Mary. The Bible says that people began to see their dead that were righteous ones. Perhaps while waiting for Jesus, David probably went to check on his grandchildren. Jesus approached Mary but he first tested her to see if her heart was right. He asked, “Who are you looking for?” If her heart was not right, He would have disappeared but when He saw that she was desperately seeking Him, He called her name in a way that only He would and she shouted “Rabboni!” And Mary reached out to hug Jesus.

Do you know that if Mary had hugged Jesus, that would have defiled the entire sacrifice on The Cross and rendered it of no effect? Imagine the risk Jesus took just because he could not ignore a broken heart. He put everything on the line just because Mary was heartbroken. If you are really God’s child, you can be rest assured that God would attend to your broken heart. And Jesus said, “do not cling to me; the sacrifice is not yet completed”. And Mary understanding spiritual things left Him and Jesus went to complete the work of atonement. The resurrection is so important to our faith. In fact, it was what the early church centered its teaching on. They talked about the resurrection of Jesus because they knew that if anyone comes in contact with the resurrection power, it is all they will ever need.

Prayer [song]: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! There’s something about Your Name. Master, Saviour, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain. Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away but there’s something about Your Name. Amen!
