Relationships

Dan.2:17 “…Daniel… told his friends… what had happened. 18 He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men… 19 That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision…”

Daniel had friends, people he was doing life with, people who could pray for him and with him. Do you have friends? Daniel was in a “Life group”, are you in a Life group? You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Daniel spent most of his time with his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. When trouble came, they were able to influence things and God showed them mercy. It was because of this network that so many families were delivered from tears. Who are the three people you spend most of your time with? What are you exchanging? Who do you virtually hang out with the most on messenger? What book are you reading? What messages are you listening to? There are messages you can listen to that will be as though you hung out with the person. The reality is that you eventually become the person that you hang out with. Your clout sometimes is directly proportional to the people you surround yourself with.

God’s Word says, “iron sharpens iron, both components in the equation have to be iron before the sharpening can occur and before this truth can be fulfilled. Dig the well before you become thirsty. They could go to God for themselves because they already had a thriving relationship with God. Daniel and his friends did not neglect God when they got to Babylon. They sustained their relationship with God. It was not when the problems came that they remembered to seek God. They already had an ongoing fellowship with God that they could draw on. Grow your roots in God before the storm comes because challenges are constant.

Even in your relationships with men, dig the well before you need water. Daniel marched straight to the king, that level of access and audience does not happen instantly. It is built over time and it requires deliberate and consistent effort. If Daniel had not proved himself previously, what do you think would have happened when He showed up before the king? He probably would have been the first wise man to be executed because the king was still furious. But Daniel, because of the wells he had dug in the past, was able to draw water and calm the situation. Gal.6:9 (TLB) “And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.” Ps.16:3 [MSG]And these God-chosen lives all around—what splendid friends they make!” Ask God to surround you with God-chosen people and befriend them.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I thank You for the people You have planted in my life, please surround me with God-chosen people and separate me from corrupt people, in Jesus Name. Amen!
