The Answer I

Heb.10:25 “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

A Zambian proverb states, “If you walk alone, you walk fast, but if you walk together, you walk far.” You need people; we need each other. God has not designed us to do life alone. God hates loneliness and community is His answer to loneliness. God has created physical families to combat loneliness and He created spiritual families to eradicate loneliness. Community is God’s solution to loneliness. When you cut yourself off community, when you refuse to be part of a local church, when you do not want to plug into Life Group (House Fellowship), you are setting up yourself for trouble. You need others to walk with you, I need others to walk with me.

Secondly, the reason you need people is, you need others to work with you. Eccl 4:9 (NCV) “Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together.” If you want to achieve more, you need company. When you have people working with you, you do not get tired easily and between yourselves, you get more done. However, it is important to mention that the people working together must be in an interdependent relationship. If you have people working with you in a co-dependent relationship, you are going to get a less than optimal output because one person is like a parasite. But in a proper interdependent relationship, you will get a lot more.

Community is God’s answer to fatigue. You need help, I need help; none of us can be all that God has created for us to be without other people. God is going to do amazing things through His Church, through us in Jesus Name. There is no way one man can do it by himself. I cannot – in fact, I did not get here by myself. We all got here together. Gal.6:10 (MSG) “Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” God is saying, in the community of faith we need to work for the benefit of everybody. Then take it outside of the community of faith, not just for your benefit but for the benefit of everybody.

To be healthy, to have a healthy spiritual life, you must be in the community of faith. You need to join a local church and get integrated, involved in the church life by joining a small group within the church. To be a healthy believer, you need large group worship and small group fellowship. God has not told us to choose one, you need both, there is value in both.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to be deliberate about working for the benefit of everyone in my community of faith beginning with the people closest to me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
