Resurrection
John 12: 24 “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.”
We will kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday. Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were Jesus’ friends. Unfortunately, Lazarus became sick and eventually died. Mary and Martha had sent a message to Jesus, but Jesus did not get there until Lazarus had passed on. In fact, when Jesus showed up, Lazarus had been dead for four days. When Jesus told Martha that Lazarus would live again, her response was, I know in the resurrection on the last day my brother will rise again. Jesus’ response to Martha is huge. Jesus said, “…I am the resurrection and the life… Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?” [John 11:24-26].
What was Martha’s response? John 11:27 “Yes, Lord,” she told him. “I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God.” Fast forward to John 11:39-40 “Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” In other words, everything that will happen on the resurrection day is present in Me now. So, Martha, if you believe you will see the glory of God. [paraphrased]. Jesus is the resurrection and the life and because Jesus is alive today, the resurrection power is present today! When? Today!
1 Cor.15:42-43 “…Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength.” What I am saying is this; whatever is broken and buried in brokenness in your life will be raised in glory, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Whatever dream, whatever health situation, it could be your spiritual life that is buried in brokenness. It could be your walk with God that is buried in brokenness. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, it will be raised in glory. Whatever it is that is buried in weakness, it will be raised in strength. Whatever it is, in your life and destiny that is buried in obscurity will be raised in prominence. Every buried destiny will come into its full glory in the Mighty Name of Jesus.
Jesus stood before Martha and said, I am the Resurrection and the Life. Meaning, yes Lazarus will be resurrected on the last day but if you believe, he will be resurrected first today. The same way Jesus is saying to you, every situation that appears buried, is only planted. In this season, it will encounter the resurrection power of Christ and it will come back to life in the Mighty Name of Jesus. I want you to focus on the “Lazarus” situations in your life even right now, whatever it is, and just say to the Lord, “Father, I thank You for this season – for resurrection power.”
Prayer: Father, I ask that You fill me with Your life, Your Spirit, and Your Power, and let there be a release of Your resurrection power in every area, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
