Stay Engaged

Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Work hard at whatever you do, because there will be no action, no thought, no knowledge, no wisdom in the world of the dead—and that is where you are going.” (GNT)

Psalm 119:¹⁰⁵ “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Stop looking for a vision and start looking for a verse. I have been around for a bit, and trust me, the people who are always looking for visions always go astray. But the people who are always about the Word never go astray. Psalm 119:⁵⁹ “I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws.” You need to ponder, but you have to be at rest to ponder. If you don’t ponder, you can’t turn to do His instructions or to be in sync with Him. Proverbs 24:³² “I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw.” (NIV). Are you learning or have you learnt any lessons from what you have seen? Not being quiet takes you out of timing and out of rhythm. You have to know how to be quiet. Just be quiet.

To be in sync with Heaven’s timing, the fourth thing is to Engage Your Best. You have something to offer. There is something God has put in you. Take dancing, for example, you may not be the best dancer, but when it’s your turn to dance, just do something. Even if you can’t dance, just do something. No one is born empty; everybody has something to offer. And you have to see your life like that because if you don’t, you cannot be in rhythm or in timing. There is a time when your rest is over, and you are supposed to step up. If you are timid or if you don’t bring your best, you can’t be in sync. God expects that even if your neighbour says you can’t dance, when it is your turn to dance, you engage your best. No matter how it is, just dance.

1 Peter 4:¹⁰ “God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.” (LB). You have to know that you are blessed, and you are carrying a special ability. That is what gives you confidence. Take the story of Abraham and Lot in Genesis 13, for instance. Abraham told Lot to take his choice of land. Lot looked, chose the lush pastures. So, Abraham went in the other direction. People who know what they carry are not usually intimidated by whether the land is green or not. They know it is not the land that determines their prosperity; it is the Covenant, what they carry.

God told Abraham to leave the land of his fathers and go to a land He would show him. Then, at another point, God told Abraham to stay in a particular place and not move. That was the Covenant speaking. How to know when to move and not to move, that is your timing. To move because everyone else is moving is risky. And to stay when it is your time to move is also risky.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to remain in sync with You at all times and to bring my best to everything You have called me to be and do, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
