Faith vs. Works

God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Eph.2:8-9

Salvation is by grace and faith alone and cannot be merited by good works. A number of us have this figured out wrongly, we think that we merit God’s love because of the things that we have done or are currently doing. Until you understand that it is not by works of righteousness but by His grace alone you will continue to struggle. Many of us feel we can merit salvation by the good things we do. There is nothing you can do that is good enough to atone for your sins. None of us can be saved based on what we do. Understand this that no work can put you in right standing with God but we are only saved by grace. What are the conditions that are keeping you away from Jesus? Or are you hoping that if only you can settle this one thing then you will be justified to stand clean before God. All our righteousness before God are like filthy rags. You will never be good enough to earn your salvation. Today, you have to put your faith in Christ Jesus the Author and Finisher of your faith. You have to come to Jesus by faith, receive forgiveness by faith then good works follow. ‘For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus1Tim.2:5 [NLT]. Faith comes before works. We are not of those who have faith and nothing to show for it or those who have works and no faith. By grace we are saved and we have works to show for it. You have to hinge your faith on Jesus then go from there. Nothing can wash away sins but the Blood of Jesus.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for loving me even before I was formed in my mother’s womb. Thank you for the Blood of the Lamb that has washed me and put me in right standing with you. Preserve me Lord. In Jesus Name.
