Get Wisdom
Philip4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Relax! God is God and you are not. If you carry the whole world on your head what is left for Jesus to carry? That is His job not yours! The man who discovered the concept of stress was a medical scientist. By the time he came up with it, he did not know that over a hundred years before that there was Hooke’s law. If you did physics, you will be familiar with Hooke’s law, it deals with stress on a material. If you apply stress on a material beyond its elasticity, it will get to its breaking point. The medical scientist saw that this is what happens with human beings. When you put human beings under stress, they get to a point where they break just the same way a material snaps when it is stretched beyond its elasticity limit.
My conclusion about stress, and it is not necessarily novel, is that it is not what has happened to you that has stressed you. Rather it is how you respond to what has happened to you that is stressing you. It is your response that is the stress. At one of our worship experiences, God showed me people crying. My heart broke, people are crying? I made the call, and more than half of the church came forward. Stop crying, do not cry again, sorrow belongs to satan so let him carry it. Regardless of the challenges facing you, rejoice! Rejoice regardless so that when you are forty people can mistake you for thirty.
Phillip.4:6 (NKJV) “Be anxious for nothing…”, it is an instruction. It is your decision to be anxious for nothing, “…but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” The peace surpasses all understanding because everything on the outside should make you worry. But that peace will make you calm and it will guard your heart, that is what the Bible says. Be anxious for nothing, play a lot, laugh a lot because that is what the Bible says – cheer up!
After you have prayed and committed things to God, another part of eradicating stress that is mostly overlooked is wisdom. Wisdom is a stress buster; foolish people do so many unnecessary things. Motion is not progress. The Yoruba’s say, “hustle does not lead to breakthrough”. You should hustle but hustle by itself does not lead to break through. Eccl.10:10 “Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade. That’s the value of wisdom; it helps you succeed.”
Prayer: Father, I ask for wisdom, fill me with wisdom Lord, in Jesus Name. Amen!
