Offloading Unresolved Pain II
‘You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!’ Isaiah.26:3.
It is impossible to keep wounds fresh and to keep the pains away. Keeping the wounds fresh will only keep the pain fresh. Many of us think that by keeping the wounds fresh, we are punishing the people who have hurt us. The truth is that you are only punishing yourself. The next step to offloading the baggage of unresolved pain is to reveal the hurt. ‘When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long’ Ps.32:3 [KJV]. There is a saying that ‘the person that keeps quiet, his own will also keep quiet with him’. Don’t keep quiet, seek for help. ‘I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred’ Ps.39:2. Reveal the hurt, don’t be suffering and smiling. Speak to God first about it and then follow His leading. Offloading the baggage of unresolved pain must not be treated with kid-gloves. Some cases are purely deliverance cases. These are some kind of headaches that pain killers cannot cure. For instance, a woman in labour cannot be looking to panadol for relief. The pain killer has to be apt for the type of pain. Some things require intense and focused treatment. ‘They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace’Jer.6:14. Approaching unresolved pain with kid-gloves is superficial treatment. You need someone to help you but in counseling you only say one tenth of the details. How can you receive the kind of help you need when you are not being honest? You don’t lie to someone that can help you. There is a myth that says ‘time heals all wounds’. It is a lie. If time heals all wounds then every eighty year old man should be healed. The only One that heals all wounds is God. God can choose to heal you over time. The choice is yours. Pain is just a symptom of the real issue. For some the real issue is sin. Every other pain we experience has its roots in sin. And the only solution to sin is Jesus.
Prayer [song]: Father, ‘touch me with Your hands Jesus. Touch me with Your hands Jesus .Do not let me go the same way I came. Touch me with Your hands Saviour’, in Jesus Name.
