Towdah

‘Offer unto God thanksgiving [towdah]; and pay thy vows unto the most High:’ Ps.50:14 [KJV]

The second word used to express a kind of praise is Towdah. Towdah comes from the same root word as yadah. Towdah literally means an extension of hands in adoration, avowal, or in acceptance. The extension of hands in towdah is very different from that of yadah. With yadah, the hands are
extended upwards saying to God ‘I surrender to you; I belong to you’. But in towdah the hands are extended forward as if to accept or receive something. Or you are thanking God for what you have received or accepted from Him. It is used for thanking God for things not yet received as well as things that have already been received. It is important to understand the different kinds of praise because we are trusting God that the best quality of praise and worship will come from us as individuals and as a church. So we have to be skilled in these things. ‘Offer unto God thanksgiving [towdah]; and pay thy vows unto the most HighPs.50:14 [KJV]. In other words, offer unto God thanksgiving by extending your hands forward to show you accept what He has done for you or what He will yet do for you. So the next time you sing songs of thanksgiving before God remember to express it by extending your hands forward in adoration and acceptance. ‘My heart is breaking
as I remember how it used to be:
I walked among the crowds of worshipers,
leading a great procession to the house of God,
singing for joy and giving thanks [towdah] amid the sound of a great celebration!Ps.42:4. This portion of scripture unfortunately is the sorrow of the backslider. I am praying that perhaps there are people reading today’s devotional that used to have an amazing communion with God and can relate to this scripture. I am praying that God will restore you back to those days and even better in Jesus Name. It is a terrible thing to have had a very good relationship with God and all that is left is the shadow of it. Take your worship to the next level, towdah before God consistently.

Prayer [song]: Here we are, lifting our hands to You. Here we are, giving You praise for all You do. As we praise and worship Your holy name, You are here dwelling within our praise. For every answered prayer…
