Ask Him
Psalm 16:5 “The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot.” (AMPC).
You need to realize that God is the most secure place you can be and the most secure place you can have even at this time. If you are going to put your security in anything at all, you should put it not only in something that cannot be taken away from you. And you should put in something that is limitless. God is limitless.Philippians 4:19 “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus” (MSG).
The New Living Translation puts it this way, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” So, the simple truth is there is nothing I need that God cannot supply. There is nothing you need that God cannot supply – absolutely nothing! Now that you believe and have accepted that God can supply everything you need. The question is how do you let Him meet your needs? And that is big. How do I let God meet my needs? We will go through four things. Are you ready?
#1. I Need To Ask Him To Be My Shepherd. The Lord is my shepherd is not automatic. I need to ask God to be my shepherd. In other words, I am submitting to being His sheep. Asking the Lord to be your shepherd is saying to Him, I am your sheep. The truth about sheep is that sheep are incredibly defenceless animals. Sheep are slow, clawless, fangless, and their teeth are not blunt. Sheep are not very smart. The truth is no matter how smart you think you are; you are not very smart. In fact, one of the things the pandemic brought to light is that human beings are not very smart. Even scientists, if they will be honest, had to trust God for a breakthrough.
We are not very smart, but God will guide us. (Say Amen). God will lead us like sheep. God will protect us like sheep. Left on its own, without a shepherd, a sheep will probably be eaten by other animals. Sheep need a shepherd. The first thing when it comes to letting God meet your needs is to ask Him to be your Shepherd every day. Asking God to be your shepherd is not something you do just one day in a week or one day in a month. It has to be every single day.
Sheep need a shepherd. So, what do shepherds do? Shepherds protect and provide for the sheep. The shepherd protects the sheep from destruction and from calamity. The Shepherd provides food and water for the sheep. The shepherd provides leadership and direction for the sheep. We need our shepherd and God is our shepherd. How do I know? Please read John 10:14-15.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, please be my Shepherd, lead me, guide me, provide for me, protect me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
