How will you respond to Jesus?

‘Look I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends’. Rev.3:20 [NLT]

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. His promises are guaranteed. However, our response determines our feedback. In the above scripture for example, the Lord guarantees that He will stand at the door and knock and He will share a meal with you as a friend. But in between the first and the last promise is your response. How would you respond to Jesus?

Response 1: ‘I love Him and I love the Church but I don’t want to follow Jesus’. Heb3:15 ‘… Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts…’ God wants to have a love relationship with you and He is asking you not to harden your heart.

Response 2: ‘I cannot afford to follow Jesus. I can’t afford it’. Matt.6:21-24 Jesus pointed out that the No.1 competitor for our hearts is money. It is not wrong to desire financial security but not at the expense of your salvation. ‘What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?’ At the end of the day, the only thing that endures is your relationship with Jesus. God is saying, ‘seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you’. Following Jesus is affording it.

Response 3: ‘I am not worthy to be a follower of Jesus. How can God die for me, I do not deserve it – I am not worthy’. 1Chro17:16-18, If you think about the price Jesus paid, we really are unworthy but that is why we merit it by grace. God is saying come and I would make you worthy. Let His worthiness cover your unworthiness.

Prayer: Father, I choose to submit my will, my plans, my desires, my aspirations and my dreams to You. I choose You above all else. Thank You for grace. May the Holy Spirit guide your heart and counsel you on how to respond to the Father.
