Don’t Settle!

Psalm 42:¹ “As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.” (NKJV)

The Psalmist prayed in Psalms 119:³⁷ “Help me turn my eyes away from illusions so that I pursue only that which is true; drench my soul with life as I walk in your paths.” (TPT). The only thing that is really guaranteed is God’s presence. Unfortunately, people chase the things that are not guaranteed and leave the only thing that is guaranteed. Not knowing that if only we can secure God’s guaranteed presence, we will secure every other thing that is not guaranteed. Take safety for instance, safety is not in the absence of danger, safety is in the presence of God. We often devote a lot of energy to trying to get out of danger or remove danger from our environment. And that is the good and responsible thing to do. But safety is in the presence of God. So, if we make God’s presence a priority, then our safety is guaranteed.

And this can be applied to every other thing. Take wealth for instance, you can either chase wealth, or you can chase God’s presence. If you chase God’s presence, you will discover that in His presence there is fullness of joy, and at His right hand there are pleasures forever (Psalm 16:11). All the gold and silver belong to God. Haggai 2:⁸ “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” You can chase the gold, or you can chase the God who owns the gold. If you choose to chase God’s presence, God will satisfy your soul with abundance. As you chase God’s presence, your businesses will go from strength to strength, your life will go from glory to glory in the Mighty Name of Jesus. As God increases you, your bands will burst forth to the right and the left in the Name of Jesus. As God enlarges you, because He will in the Name of Jesus, do not settle! Do not settle!

There is a story in Luke 12:15-21 (please read) of a man who settled, and it didn’t end well for him. You are going to be enlarged to the North, South, East, and West. Do you receive that? However, God is saying, don’t settle. Your farm will be fertile, and it will produce fine crops in Jesus Mighty Name. Don’t settle! The story is told of an extremely wealthy man. He said if the devourer enters his finances, it will eat to the left and eat to the right. And when the devourer is full, it will bounce away. I am sure you can imagine what happened to him. Don’t settle. It takes different things to settle different people. For some people, when their bands have ten billion dollars, they settle. For some people, it is a million dollars, and they settle.

Prayer: Father, help me to be deliberate about securing Your presence daily and not to settle no matter how wealthy I become, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
