Just Right

Ecclesiastes 8:⁵ “…A wise person knows the right time to do things. He also knows the right way to do them.” (Easy).

Picture this: in an orchestra, there are many different musical instruments. One person is playing the violin, another person is playing the cello, and another is playing the bass and so on. While they are playing, the conductor tells the person playing the bass to stop, but the others continue to play. And at the right time, the conductor signals the person playing the bass to continue. It is because of the harmony, the beauty of music. God is orchestrating a beautiful story about your life, and there is a timing for the things you are doing. Many people get frustrated because they look at their cousin’s timing and compare it to their own. Then they say, “We are age mates, and he is doing X, why am I not able to do X?”

Your timing is different. The most powerful thing you must do is to sync with the Holy Spirit, sync with God, to move in your own timing, to move in your own sequence. There is nothing as powerful as that. Ecclesiastes 8:⁵ “…A wise person does the right thing at the right time.”  (NCV, emphasis added). What determines whether someone is wise? Is it just by doing the right thing? No, it is by doing the right thing at the right time. What determines whether someone is wise? Is it just by saying the right thing? No, it is by saying the right thing at the right time. So, for you to be wise, and you will be wise in the Name of Jesus, there are two components. You must have the right thing, then you must have the right time.

Inadvertently, it means that there is no right time for a wrong thing. You must have the right thing, then you must sync up with the right time. No right time for a wrong thing. What is wrong is wrong. My grandmother used to say that if it is wrong in the morning, it will still be wrong in the evening. And there is only one remedy for the wrong, repentance and doing the right thing. But when you even have the right thing to do, the issue of timing comes in. A wise person does the right thing at the right time. We have all been in a fellowship where everyone is singing, and someone joins in at the wrong time because they struggle with timing.

Imagine someone who struggles with timing being in the choir. If you look at the music director sometimes, he is frustrated because he is trying to get the person to come in at the right time. It is like the person has two left feet. Over the next few days, we will make a lot of references to music, so tomorrow we will delve into the seven elements of music.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the wisdom to do the right thing, the right way and at the right time, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
