How Often?
‘Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?’ Luke 18:7
There are things that must be confronted spiritually and such things the enemy would have us just ignore them. You cannot afford to be ignorant of the enemy. Paul puts it very aptly, ‘do not be ignorant of the devices of satan’. In other words, the enemy would rather have us ignorant of his devices; but do not be. Of course there is the other extreme that sees the devil in everything. That is not what I am asking you to do. God does not want us to be paranoid and see the enemy in everything but God does not want us to be ignorant either.
The major thing the enemy does is accuse us. The Bible calls him the accuser of the brethren. The first thing you need to know about the accuser is that he is persistent. ‘Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last – salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night’ Rev.12:10. The accuser shows up how often? So how often should we show up? How often did the woman show up? And how often did Jesus say we should show up before the Judge? Day and night! You can’t be sleeping while the enemy is railing accusations at you. Sometimes I wonder how the story of Job would have turned out if he listened into the conversation that was going on between God and satan. Maybe he would have been prepared. I am not saying it would necessarily avert what happened. The second thing about the enemy you must know, is that the accuser is fearless. “If satan can muster up forces and challenge God in heaven, do you think he is afraid of you?” (quote by Rev. Kole Olowofoyeku.) The enemy knows that God is the Man of War yet he still challenged God. But God put him in his proper place. The beauty of it for us is that God has ‘…given [us] power to tread upon serpents, and upon scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt [us]’. God is saying, though man is weak and frail but man in Christ will crush the head of satan and there is nothing he can do about it.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace and wisdom to appear before You daily – day and night, in Jesus Name.
