Land Matters

Deuteronomy 28:¹² “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.” (KJV, emphasis added).

The purpose of the rain, primarily, is the land. However, the land requires work. The land does not require argument, speculation, or infinite analysis. We can argue about who is right, the mathematician, the linguist, the liberal, or the spiritual person. However, it really does not matter who is right; what matters is that the land has to be worked, cultivated, protected from all sorts of things, nurtured, fertilized, and irrigated. The land has to be cared for. Who is taking care of your land? How are you taking care of your land? How are you ensuring that your land is getting the maximum benefits of and from the rain?

The land is a spiritual entity, and it is affected directly by either righteousness or sin. Leviticus 18:²⁵ “And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.” (KJV, emphasis added). When a land is defiled, God punishes the land. However, the land is defiled by people, right? But God punishes the land, in other words, the land gets visited. Then, after a while, the land begins to evict the people on the land. Your land will not evict you in the Name of Jesus. The land itself vomits out the inhabitants. Everyone who has plotted and is plotting evil against you, their land will vomit them out in the Name of Jesus (say a big Amen).

We see another dynamic of the land in 2 Kings 2:¹⁹ “The people of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.” (emphasis added). Spiritual irresponsibility affects the land directly. Spiritual irresponsibility makes people’s Heavens close up. I pray for mercy for you, that the mercy of God will be consistent in your life in the Name of Jesus. Some people ask, “Why can’t we just continue as we are?” I have had several conversations with very well to do people, Christians, living anyhow they want to live. And they said to me, “But Pastor, God’s grace is available. Why do I need to be upright when grace covers me? I can cheat, defraud, or commit whatever atrocity I want. Grace covers me.” They don’t say it like that, but their actions speak to it.

I have been around for a while, not too long, but enough. I have seen things, seen good people who took these principles for granted, literally eat grass. I have seen buoyant, wealthy people disregard the principles of Heaven, and I have seen them reduced to penury, to nothing. Why? It is because their land began to evict them, and the Heavens shut over them.

Prayer: Father, have mercy on me, heal my land and open Your Heavens over me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
