Lifestyle Of Worship I

“I will praise you seven times a day because all your regulations are just” Ps.119:164

How does worship become a life style? “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer” Acts 2:42 [emphasis added]. From this passage, the first thing is to commit to weekly worship with other Christians. At least in this time and dispensation our worship times are weekly. But the New Testament church that we are modeling after their worship time is daily. How do I make worship a lifestyle? Commit to a weekly worship with other followers of Jesus. Why because when we gather, we lift up the name of Jesus. The most important person in church is Jesus. We gather to lift up the name of Jesus and not to celebrate tradition. We do not gather because of religion, or because of a man, we gather because of Jesus. And it is so important that we understand why we gather together as Christians. “You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of AbelHeb.12:23-24. Paul is explaining that we have not come to a mountain that cannot be touched. Our Sunday worship experiences are touch points to keep us in a lifestyle of worship. In other words, through out the week we are bombarded with the cares and the challenges of life. But when we come together, His water washes our cares away and He reignites our passion for Him. And our fire gets bigger and our passion gets magnified. Then we go into the week.

So “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…” Heb10:25. Sometimes it surprises me that some believers think worshipping together in church is optional. Some people do not verbalize it but their attitude shows that they believe it is optional. The ‘I will come to church when I feel like it’ attitude. That is a wrong attitude because it is not optional. Commit to a weekly worship with other followers of Jesus.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me not to hinge my adoration of You on my feelings and help remain steadfast in fellowship with other followers of Jesus, in Jesus Name.
