Get Up!

“ Once after a sacrificial meal at Shiloh, Hannah got up and went to pray. Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance of the Tabernacle” 1 Sam.1:9

Hannah did not allow the lame consolation of Elkanah dampen her pursuit. Hannah did not allow the “deceitful” portion of choice to deceive her into abandoning her pursuit and make her to begin to eat. Some people, even though they are believing God for something, will opt out of corporate spiritual movements because they do not want to stress themselves. Come on! Can you not hold God’s hands for a season and see heaven respond? Are you so satisfied? How desperate are you? Hannah refused to allow even the persecution of Peninnah stop her.

So how did she get through it all? “Once after a sacrificial meal at Shiloh, Hannah got up and went to pray…” 1 Sam.1:9 [emphasis added]. A time will come in everyone’s life when you will need to get up from the midst of the “Peninnahs” and just face heaven. You need to get up from the midst of even the “Elkanahs” of this world, the ones that really love you but cannot provide the solution for you and face heaven. You need to get up from the midst of the choice portion and face heaven. I am the first to admit; I do not fully know how prayer works but I know it works! I do not fully understand how prayer works. Honestly I have been praying since I can remember and I have seen God move through prayer since I can remember but I really do not understand how prayer works. But I really do not need to understand how prayer works I just need to know that if I pray it will work! That’s all! How many women understand the technology behind the microwave oven? Now how many women worry that because they do not understand the technology of the microwave oven so they will not use it? Does that even cross your mind? Instead you do not let that limit you, you put your food inside the microwave, set the time and the heat and wait. You know that when the bell rings the food is going to come out hot. It is the same way with prayer; do not be discouraged because it is going to work. Some foods just need two minutes in the oven, some need fifteen minutes but it is going to come out hot. Wherever you are in your life’s journey, you need to get up and pray. You may be in a good place, you may be in a hard place, you may be in a not so good but not so hard place. But wherever you are, you need to get up and pray.

Prayer: Father, in line with Your Word, I will give the Lord my God no rest until You settle me completely, in Jesus Name.
