The Test

Gen: 22:1Some time later, God tested Abraham’s faith. “Abraham!”… “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”

It is important that when we read the stories in the Bible, we do not gloss over them. You have to put yourself in these people’s shoes so you can experience God through their eyes. You have to make your trust in God bigger than your savings account, bigger than your finances. Abraham was in a really tough place. He had waited on God for the promise of Isaac for years. And then God brings the promise to pass and said, “…in Isaac shall your seed be.” In other words, through Isaac you will become a father of many nations. Then God tells Abraham to sacrifice this same Isaac. How easy was that?

Abraham was a good man. God testified about Abraham that he will command his household after God. Abraham always taught his family about the things of God. So he had told Isaac about the place of the altar. There is the wood, the knife, the sacrifice, and an elevated platform called the altar. Isaac, a smart child, said to his father, “I can see the wood, I can see the altar and I can see the knife but where is the sacrifice?” How do you tell your son that the plan is to sacrifice him?

But Abraham made that profound statement; “the Lord will provide a sacrifice for himself – Jehovah Jireh!” And Abraham puts Isaac on the altar and God said, “Now I know you love me”. Heb.11:17 It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him…” Everything is a test! God wants to release something to you but before He does, He will test you to see if you will release what is in your hands to Him. It is only when you are able to release what is in your hands to God, that heaven knows that you are ready for the breakthrough. That is how it works.

Heb.11:17 “…Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, 18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” 19 Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.” For us to Step Up financially, we have to Earn Some, Spend Less, Save More, No Loss, Invest More, Give More, and Faith It. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Prayer: Father God, I see you lifting up my head financially, in Jesus Name. Amen!
