Gain Victory

Be True!

Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.” (MSG)

 

Today, we will kick off with our final thought from yesterday which is that we tell ourselves lies sometimes.And one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is, ‘It is not a problem—no biggie!’

Deepen. Detect. Disarm. Delete

The Answer

Romans 7:24-25 “I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question? The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right in this life of contradictions…” (MSG).

 

To gain victory over the battle within the first thing we must do is deepen our understanding of Christ. Romans 6:12-13 “Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. …Instead, give yourselves completely to God… now you have new life…” (emphasis added). The Cure

Romans 7:24-25 “…Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord…” (emphasis added).

Old vs. New

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, when someone becomes a Christian, he is a new creature, he becomes a brand new person inside: old things are passed away, he is not the same anymore; behold, all things are become new, a new life has begun!” (KJV & LB)

Huge Cost

Galatians 5:16 “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” (emphasis added)

 

There is a cost to not winning the battle raging on our inside. The first cost is Confusion. The second is Guilt And Shame and the third is Compulsion And Addiction. Read the rest of this entry

The Cost

Galatians 5:16 “My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness.” (MSG, emphasis added)

Set Free

Battle Within
