Be Wise
‘There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears’ Phil.1:6 [MSG].
The Potter is never in a hurry to finish one piece and move unto the next one. The Potter has a timetable for every piece, a timetable for the thoughts and plans He has for it. He is concerned about the future functionality of that piece and its durability. So, even when others think the work is complete or the clay itself is asking to be taken off the wheel, He knows to slow it down and take a look at it from all sides. What is He looking for? He is looking for cracks, air bubbles, and Read the rest of this entry
True Worth
‘So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them’ Gen.1:27.
I was checking on eBay for what people are willing to pay for clay and I saw a set of ceramic oranges being auctioned for $8,000. Someone also mentioned that he had seen a piece that sold for as much as $32,000. The reality is that clay itself is worthless. It is the worth that the potter inputs unto the work that gives it value. The clay itself cannot derive value, except the value that the potter attributes to it. The same goes for you; on your own you can do nothing. Jesus says, ‘without Me you Read the rest of this entry
In His Eyes
‘Then the Lord gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.’ Jer.18:5-6.
In this verse, God refers to Himself as the Potter and refers to us as the clay. What is clay? Clay is worthless dust. God says to Israel that as the clay is in the hands of the potter so Israel [which is us] is in His hands. There are two forces at play in pottery making. The first is the intent of the potter [his desire or what he intends to create]. And the second thing is the readiness of the clay. Every potter in the creativity of His mind knows what He wants to make out of the clay that is before Read the rest of this entry
His Dust
‘Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person’ Gen.2:7.
From day one God had been creating different fantastic and beautiful things but everything that He created, He spoke it into being. He called forth light, birds, fish, and separated the waters by His words. God had created everything by the spoken word until the sixth day. ‘Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person’ Gen.2:7. Permit me to indulge your imaginative senses a little. The Read the rest of this entry
Will He Find You?
‘But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?’ Luke 18:8
‘All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth’ Heb.11:13. The Bible says that patriarchs died still believing God. In a sense when God came for them, they still believed, they were pleasing to God. Let me ask you a question, if God does not grant that so urgent request when you want, are you still going to believe Read the rest of this entry
Time To Rejoice
‘The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’ Luke 18:4-5.
The fourth thing we learn from Luke 18:1-8 is the Judge has the final say. For some of us we have been laboring under a heavy yoke of certain pronouncements that were made over us. The Good News for you today is that the Judge has the final say over your life. Your colleague does not have the final say. Your boss does not have the final say. Even your parents do not have the final say. Jesus has the final say. The Father has the final say. So what is it you have been told will never happen? Read the rest of this entry
Fair Hearing
‘Come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most’ Heb.4:16.
The third thing we learn from Luke 18:1-8 is, the fact that you are right does not automatically win the case for you. So what does? The lawyers call it advocacy. ‘The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’ Luke 18:4-5. Even though she was right, she did not get justice until she wore the judge out Read the rest of this entry
Persist Still
‘And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death’ Rev.12:11 [KJV].
‘When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came’ Luke 4:13. Don’t think that because Jesus has empowered you then satan will fear you. Don’t think that because you are anointed then satan will back down from attacking you. He will not; but you will defeat him. Although your victory will not stop him from coming back but you shall be consistently victorious in Jesus Name. Even with Jesus, the Bible says he left Jesus for a season. How Often?
‘Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?’ Luke 18:7
There are things that must be confronted spiritually and such things the enemy would have us just ignore them. You cannot afford to be ignorant of the enemy. Paul puts it very aptly, ‘do not be ignorant of the devices of satan’. In other words, the enemy would rather have us ignorant of his devices; but do not be. Of course there is the other extreme that sees the devil in everything. That is not what I am asking you to do. God does not want us to be paranoid and see the enemy in everything but Read the rest of this entry
Be A.L.A.T
‘Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?’ Luke 18:6-7
When you approach prayer, don’t approach it with the as soon as possible mindset. Instead of A.S.A.P be A.L.A.T! I agree that I may not totally understand the details of what you are believing God for. But you have to roll up your sleeves and be prepared to present your case before God for as long as it takes. If the widow went to the unjust judge and gave him a response time limit of ‘five minutes or else’, he probably would have been very happy. He won’t have responded and she Read the rest of this entry
