No Time Like Now

Elisha left the oxen standing there, ran after Elijah, and said to him, “First let me go and kiss my father and mother good-bye, and then I will go with you!” Elijah replied, “Go on back, but think about what I have done to you” 1Kings 19:20.

#3. Jesus is waiting for you and I to respond to His call. Jesus is waiting for you to respond. “A few days later Felix came back with his wife, Drusilla, who was Jewish. Sending for Paul, they listened as he told them about faith in Christ Jesus. As he reasoned with them about righteousness and self-control and the coming day of judgment, Felix became frightened. “Go away for now,” he replied. “When it is more convenient, I’ll call for you again” Acts 24:24-25 [emphasis added]. Until You Move

“It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge” Josh.3:15.

“But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”  Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!” Ex.14:13-15. A lot of the time, like Moses we are telling ourselves wait and see what God will do. But Read the rest of this entry

Don’t Wait, Move!

“He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy” Lu.17:14.

Do you remember the story of the four lepers? [2 Kings 7:3-10]. There was famine in the land; the famine was so bad that people began to eat their children. And the four lepers said, “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other. “We will starve if we stay here, but with the famine in the city, we will starve if we go back there. So we might as well go out and surrender to the Aramean army. If they let us live, so much the better. But if they kill us, we would have died anyway.2 Kings 7:3-4. Read the rest of this entry

Action Time

“Then at last the Lord said to me, ‘You have been wandering around this hill country long enough; turn to the north’” Deut.2:2-3.

One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” Luke 17:15. Many times, we take these things for granted because Jesus will not demand gratitude from us. Did Jesus go after the other nine lepers? No! Did He withdraw their healing because they did not show gratitude? No! He is bigger than all that. But was He happy that one at least came back? Yes he was! When we have special services, I have no doubt that God heals a lot of people, a lot of people are Read the rest of this entry

He Is Waiting

“Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine?  Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” Lu.17:17-18 [emphasis added]

Our God is an action God. He is always doing stuff. He is always creating. He is always in motion. When Jesus walked physically on the earth, He was going everywhere healing the sick, raising the dead, delivering the captive. So we are accustomed to a God that does stuff; we are accustomed to an ever-active God. In fact, when we need things done in our lives we run to Jesus because we know that Read the rest of this entry

The Life?

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?” Matt.6:25.

Many of us are always chasing ‘the life’. We call it many things; some people call it ‘to arrive’. So we spend a lot of our time doing the things we think will lead to us ‘arriving’. Some people refer to chasing ‘the life’ as ‘wake up’. There are different expressions but the bottom line is a lot of people are chasing what they consider as ‘the life’. Imagine visiting your friend and you see his neighbor cruising in a boat. Read the rest of this entry

Mercy And Love

“And I will be merciful to them in their wrongdoings, and I will remember their sins no more.” Heb.8:12 [TLB]

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so muchEph.2:4 [emphasis added]. It is just so amazing that God is not only rich in mercy; He is also very rich in love. God is rich in mercy and He is full of love. I was walking down the street and something caught my eye, a father and his son were having a coaching lesson. The grass was green and the pitch was set, the father placed the ball in the penalty Read the rest of this entry

Unquestionable!

God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world” 1 Cor.7:23

I heard this story long ago and every time I have the privilege to, especially at Easter, I share it. I never get tired to telling this story and you shouldn’t either. In fact, every day should be Easter to us as believers because Jesus is alive.

Jesus was crucified, hung on a cross – they killed Him! They bound His body and buried him. Read the rest of this entry

But God!

And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth” Ex.34:6 [NKJV].

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.  They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.  While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; he has risen!” Luke 24:1-5 [emphasis added]. Ten Over Ten

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” John 10:10

A marriage, as good as marriage is, cannot give you life. Popularity cannot give you life. A boat cannot give you life. A car, even the most expensive of cars, cannot give you life. Somebody walking down the road with his ‘leg-gedis-benz’ sees another person drive off in his Mercedes Benz and says, that is ‘the life’. The truth is, as nice as the Mercedes Benz might be, it cannot give Read the rest of this entry
