Acknowledge III
‘Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture’ Ps.100:3
Secondly, acknowledge that He made us. He made us in His own image, after His likeness. Which means that you can’t be ugly especially because God’s works are so beautiful. The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows forth His handiwork. And they are masterpieces, He made you, you’re a masterpiece. I know that some people are struggling with receiving this. Let me share an experience with you. I was driving one day Read the rest of this entry
Acknowledge II
‘Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture’ Ps.100:3
Some people erroneously think and even claim that they are self-made. They do not acknowledge God because they feel that the money they have they got as a result of their own hard work. They believe that God is for the lazy man who does not want to work hard. We deceive ourselves that it is because we have two degrees or it is because we work very hard that that must be why we are successful. Yes it is good to work hard but you see the Read the rest of this entry
Acknowledge I
‘Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture’ Ps.100:3
Over the next few days we are going to learn from Psalm 100, the keys to being grateful. Who better to learn how to be grateful from than David himself. For the Lord is good and His mercy endures forever and ever. Honoring our parents is one of the things that we strongly advocate in God’s Favourite House. The story is told of a man who always buys his father a very unique father’s day gift. Some of the gifts are quite expensive, others Read the rest of this entry
Check Your Motive II
‘For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another’ Ps.75:6-7
‘People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives’ Prov.16:2. It is very easy to drift into believing that your promotion depends on man because that is when people begin to do strange things. ‘They went to Balaam and delivered this message to him: “This is what Balak son of Zippor says: Please don’t let anything stop you from coming to help me. I will pay you very well and do whatever you tell me. Just come and curse these people for me!” But Balaam responded to Balak’s messengers, “Even if Balak were to give me his palace filled with silver and gold, I would be powerless to do anything against the will of the Lord my God.’ Num.22:16-17. You would expect that he next thing Balaam would say would sound something like: “In fact, if you are not careful, I am going to demote you”. You know Balaam can demote the king? But instead Balaam’s response was, ‘But stay here one more night, and I will see if the Lord has anything else to say to me” Num.22:19. But you see when you don’t know who you are and you allow greed [what can I get, me too I can finally have a blackberry or drive a four wheel drive] to corrupt your heart then it darkens your spirituality. Then the donkey begins to see sharper than the prophet. Read the rest of this entry
By Significance III
‘The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.’ Ps.16:6.
We have learnt that there are people who have no legacy, there are those wasting their time with non-significant legacies. And then there are people like David that have significant legacies. Even if you look at Solomon, the temple that Solomon built today is not standing. God told David not to worry about building the temple because his son will build it. “Your legacy is going to be bigger than that”. Let us delve deeper and examine what David would forever be remembered Read the rest of this entry
Instructive Armor I
‘Then Saul gave David his own armor – a bronze helmet and a coat of mail. David put it on, strapped on the sword over it, took one step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before. “I can’t go in these,” he protested…’ 1 Sam.17:36-37
When you look at Goliath’s armor [1Sam.17:5-7], Saul’s armor [1Sa.17:38-39], and David’s armor [1Sam.17:40], it is very instructive to us. The value to us is you cannot go against the enemy and defeat the enemy with a weapon that the enemy knows how to use better than you. You cannot use the same tools that the enemy has mastered to defeat the enemy. You simply cannot! I was listening to Dr. Okey Onuzo’s teaching in God’s Favourite House during the Read the rest of this entry
Heart Check XI
“And now, because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all of my own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for his holy Temple’ 1Chr.29:3
A Giving heart. David had a giving heart. David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. David was seeking to do for God what God had not even demanded and that touched the heart of the Lord so much. Please read 2 Samuel 7. ‘The king summoned Nathan the prophet. “Look,” David said, “I am living in a beautiful cedar palace, but the Ark of God is out there in a tent!” 2Sam.7:2. Which is why we must never forget where God has brought us from. David took it a Read the rest of this entry
Heart Check IV
‘He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams’ Ps. 23:2
A Patient heart. David was anointed king as a teenager. He did not become king, at least over the united kingdom of Israel, till he was thirty. So for at least fifteen years, David was waiting patiently and adventurously too. He was running from pillar to post. He was just waiting. A lot of us God gives you just a glimpse of what He wants to do and we just rush and make a mess of the whole thing. David had a patient heart. In fact when David confronted goliath Read the rest of this entry
It’s Not About You!
“Didn’t I say …that you would do this, Lord? …You are eager to turn back from destroying people. Just kill me now, Lord! I’d rather be dead than alive if what I predicted will not happen.” The Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry about this?” Jonah 4:2-4
It really is not about you or me but about God and what He is doing. For some of us, this is all we need to hear today. After God delivered me and taught me this lesson, I could pray and people that were dying would come back to life and it didn’t mean anything to me. You know why it didn’t mean anything to me? I knew it wasn’t because of my prayers. I just did what I had to do and God did what He had to do. If you don’t understand this Read the rest of this entry
My Story
‘The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you’ Gen.12:1
My spiritual father, late Pastor Eskor, asked us to start a church barely a year after I had left paid employment and we obeyed. Through out the period we served in that church, we were happy not to collect any salary. I had a business and I felt my money should be used for the Kingdom and not the other way round. Then one day God asked me to leave my business and focus on His work. And I brought my needs before God – my family, bills, Read the rest of this entry
