To Correct And Teach
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right’ 2 Tim.3:16
Today we will continue our discourse on relationships so as to learn what is wrong in our lives and let God’s Word teach us and equip us for good works even amidst our relationships. There are quite a number of Christians who are engaged, not married yet but have begun to sleep with their intended spouses. Some are just doing it, not ignorantly but because it seems everyone is doing it. Again it is important to know that not everyone is doing it, just those who are vocal about it and so it seems like it has become acceptable. Do not Read the rest of this entry
Secret Saving
‘So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband’ Eph.5:33.
Every Christian home should have a sense of security and it is the responsibility of the husband to provide that security. So, it does not come as a shock to me when a woman asks if it is acceptable to have a secret saving account. Some even want to know if they are really required to tell their husbands their exact wage. The reason why this question pops up varies from one woman to the next but the underlining emotion that drives it is security. With one woman, as soon as she got married, her mum began to pump her with the Read the rest of this entry
What Will Jesus Do?
‘For I hate divorce!” says the LORD, the God of Israel. “To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty, ” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. “So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife’ Mal.2:16.
It will surprise you that one question I get consistently is under what condition can I divorce my spouse? I don’t just get this question from men; even women want to know if they can divorce their husbands. And when I get this question, I just ask myself what will Jesus do? ‘Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question: “Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife for just any reason?’ Matt.19:3. So today I am presenting you with the same answer that Jesus gave. ‘Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus Read the rest of this entry
Nuptial Word
‘Look in the scroll of the Lord and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate. For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Sprit will gather them together’ Isa.34:16 [NIV].
There are a lot of single Christian ladies of marriageable age who are trusting God for a Christian husband yet all their suitors are not Christians. And the number one question on their lips is what should I do? Honestly my heart goes out to them. Every real Pastor’s heart aches for his people who desire to get married and are not yet married. We are praying for you and we trust that God will bring your spouse in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Yet for our own posterity, it is in our best interest that we defer to the authority of the Word Read the rest of this entry
A Relationship
‘Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world’ James 4:8.
If you are married and you never spend time with your spouse, can you have a relationship with him/her? Of course not! You can sleep on the same bed and yet be total strangers. This is also true about our relationship with the Holy Spirit. Don’t just be content with having Him around; you have to talk to the Holy Spirit. You have to find time to be with the Holy Spirit. You have to create time to live in Him, move in Him, and exist in Him. Some people see the Holy Read the rest of this entry
The Priest
‘The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth’ Isa.38:19 [KJV]
The father is the priest. Priests are custodians of God’s Word and law. The father should be the custodian of the Word and should teach it to the children. ‘The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth’ Isa.38:19 [KJV]. The father is the priest and runs the priesthood. Of course the mother too can teach the Word of God. Yet the fathers are the custodians of the priesthood. Priests, apart from being custodians of the Word of God, are responsible for sacrifices and all the Read the rest of this entry
The Help Mate
‘And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him’ Gen.2:18
Yesterday we said that some men pass through seasons in their lives where they are unable to function as providers for their family. It is the responsibility of every wife to understand how hard this is for her husband and support him through that season. Support, encourage, and pray for your husband because he will come out of that season in Jesus Name. There is no one that stays in God’s Favourite House that will remain poor. I say this with all humility and the integrity of God in my heart. I have made a covenant with God upon this house Read the rest of this entry
The Power of Headship
‘Then God said to Abraham, “your responsibility is to obey the terms of the covenant. You and all your descendants have this continual responsibility’ Gen.17:9
Every man wants to be successful. There is no man really that does not want to be successful. In fact the craving of the heart of everyman is to be successful. But if we do not understand what success really means we will end up not being successful in our efforts to be successful. The best definition of success that I have come across is the one given by John Maxwell “you are successful when the people that know you the most and are closest to you respect you the most”. That is tougher than being a millionaire, believe me. If the people Read the rest of this entry
Maritally Faithful
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder’ Mark 10:9.
The eagle is maritally faithful until death. When a male and female eagle pair up, note eagles lives up to 120 years, they stay faithful till death. They do not cross fences like chickens. The eagle is committed to its spouse until death. In the eagle community, there is marital dignity. Unlike other birds, eagles don’t Read the rest of this entry
Two Are Better II
‘A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken’ Ecc. 4:12
‘A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer’. In other words, you can only confront what you are facing. It is difficult to confront what you are backing. God is saying that when you are in a community [marriage, family, or church] when you face one Read the rest of this entry
