Prayerful Beginnings III
‘Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain’ Ps.127:1 [KJV]
We need to understand that all power belongs to God. Jehovah has the final say. People may work tirelessly but unless the Lord approves, it cannot stand. So today we are going to continue still in the place of prayer because Jesus promises that if we ask and keep on asking, we will receive what we ask for. If we seek and keep on seeking, we will find what we seek. And if we knock and keep on knocking, the door shall be opened unto us. You will receive, you will find, and the Read the rest of this entry
Prayerful Beginnings II
‘Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior’ 1Tim.2:2-3.
If only Christians knew the power in prayer, they will pray without ceasing about anything and everything. Prayer is so important. Today we will continue in the place of prayer. We are going to start by commanding everything that has stood as a gate before us or will stand as a gate before us to be lifted up. ‘Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory’ Ps.24:7-10 [KJV]. Pray concerning your home, marriage, finances, and for Nigeria. Read the rest of this entry
Prayerful Beginnings I
‘In the beginning… the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.’ Gen.1:1-3 [KJV].
Transition from one year is a very delicate time spiritually. Therefore, even amidst celebrations for all that God has done and is doing for us, because this is also a season for thanksgiving, It is important that we engage prayerfully. Spend the last few hours in this year prayerfully speaking into being what you want to see in the coming year 2015. You need to realize that God can never ever fail. It is wisdom to secure victory ahead because Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever. Read the rest of this entry
Potent Word
‘It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it’ Isa.55:11
Once God speaks, His Word has enough in itself to bring to pass what has been spoken. I am sure that you have begun to hear God speak concerning your situation already. God’s Word is potent. My advice, is take God at His Word. If God says you will eat bread without scarcity, then believe that you will indeed eat bread without scarcity. It is that simple. Many times we want God to touch us but God is speaking to us. Many times Read the rest of this entry
In The Name Of The Lord!
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied’ 1Sam.17:45 [NIV].
The conversation with goliath. The fifth conversation David had was with goliath. You must have a conversation with your problem [goliath]. Have a conversation with the chest pain or fibroid, talk to it. As the conversation started, goliath went all spiritual on David. Goliath said, “Do you think I am a dog?” and David must have said “Of course you are a dog. In fact, you are a big foolish dog!” The Bible did not state that but my imagination takes over sometimes. Jesus was saying to the woman that was not Read the rest of this entry
Indispensable
‘Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matt.18:19-20 [NKJV].
The final thing Jesus highlighted is the communality of prayer or the plurality of prayer. You will observe that Jesus said, this is how you should pray Our Father; Give us this day; Our daily bread; Forgive us as we forgive; lead us not; deliver us. All the highlighted portions are plural. A major key to explosive results in prayer is praying together. I am an advocate for personal prayer and by God’s grace Read the rest of this entry
Just Stay There
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened’ Luke 11:9-10 [NIV]
There is so much to learn from the Lord’s Prayer. The third thing is the instruction that Jesus gave, “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you’. The word “ask” is in the present continuous in the original. It means ask and keep on asking. That is all it means. Some people say you pray once and if you pray again about the same issue, it means you don’t have faith. I smile because I actually was Read the rest of this entry
Trustworthy Father
‘But even after all he did, you refused to trust the Lord your God, who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day’ Deut.1:32-33.
Does God say no to some of the life defining questions we ask? Yes! However you must make it a habit to ask the Father because He alone knows the end from the beginning. On the subject of marriage, ninety nine percent of the time you should get married. It is only like one percent of the time that God will say no. And for that one percent, marriage is not in God’s plan for their life. So for every one Read the rest of this entry
As A Father
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:11-13 [NIV].
Secondly, Jesus wants us to approach God as a father. ‘…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” God is saying not only will I answer but we can be sure of the quality of His answer. As a parent, will you give your child a snake instead of the fish he asked you for? It will not even cross Read the rest of this entry
As A Friend
‘So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.’ Heb.4:16.
In Luke 11:1-11, Jesus teaches us how to approach God in prayer. Firstly, you approach God as a friend. Approach God as a friend you can run to when you are in need or when you have an emergency. ‘Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say’ Luke 11:5[NIV]. Approach God as a friend. If you are struggling with this right now or you cannot really say Read the rest of this entry
