Relationship II

‘He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy’ Luke 17:14.

I was chatting with a young man who had a bad experience with his earthly father. And he was telling me that he cannot relate with God as a Father. Every time he tries to relate with God as a father, he finds that he has resentments. All the issues he has with his earthly father begin to play out in his relationship with God. I had to take him through a whole teaching on God as a father. He was almost crying. God is better than your earthly father. Regardless of whether your earthly father has misbehaved or Read the rest of this entry

Relationship I

‘And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?’ Matt.6:30

On the white board in my office I have a simple equation written – “Jesus plus nothing equals everything”. That statement has set me free. I can go to bed and sleep. We have things to do, bills to pay, I don’t know how this or that is going to happen. But I can go to bed and sleep. And the reason why I am able to do that is – Jesus – He that watches over me does not slumber nor sleep. If your God does not slumber nor sleep, are you going to compete with Him? You can go to bed. Some people can’t sleep; they stay up Read the rest of this entry

Know Your Father

After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice’ John 10:4.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber! But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice” John10:1-5. You need to know your Father. Note that even though the shepherd Read the rest of this entry

Direction

“Then at last the Lord said to me, ‘You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; turn to the north Deut.2:2-3.

The first thing God wants you to know about moving forward is that Direction is Key. If you are at a T-junction when the light turns green, where should you go? And that is the basis of confusion for a lot of people. Today God will eradicate confusion from our lives, in Jesus name. In today’s Scripture reference, God was saying to Moses “you have gone round this mountain long enough, turn you northward”. God gives direction. Today you will hear God clearly giving you the specific direction you need to Read the rest of this entry

Waiting Time II

‘But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” Num.13:30

Waiting time is not wasted time, waiting time is Prayer time. Caleb at eighty-five said to Joshua, ‘give me this mountain’. Caleb was asking for Horeb where there were giants. Caleb says, ‘as I was forty years ago so is my strength. I’m going to go and kill these giants’. Many people would rather ask Joshua to send people to go and clear the place for them; but not Caleb. Learn from Caleb, Nehemiah, and David. You have to take Read the rest of this entry

Get Comfortable

Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe’ Gen.37:3.

God’s word to us this morning is ‘Dare to dream again’. For some of us this word translates to ‘dare to dream at all’. But for some of us it is ‘dare to dream again’. ‘Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age… But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.Gen.37:3-4. His brothers hated him so much they could not say a kind word to him. What Read the rest of this entry

Build Trust

‘The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” John 4:9

I came across Bill Hybels’ model for leading people to God. We have actually been doing it but he articulates it perfectly. It is called the 3D model. I am sure we have come across the word 3D before. To help us remember this simple model and deploy it on a daily basis is the word 3D. So what are the 3D’s of breaking the ice?

Steps To Freedom I

‘We countered with prayer to our God and set a round-the-clock guard against them’ Neh.4:9 [MSG]

The first step towards freedom from abuse is silent no more. One of the traits of an abusive relationship that is sustained is, the victim keeps quiet in an attempt to avoid shame. I pray that you will not die in silence. If he is threatening to beat you up then tell him that if he threatens you ever again you will escalate it. The abuser will continue to abuse you if he knows you are his puppet. But if he knows that he cannot treat you like this and expect Read the rest of this entry

Shovel And Sword

‘Again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband’ Eph.5:33

Again I say, you have to consistently choose your wife. You have to consistently choose her over your selfish self and over other women. The same thing goes for the women; you have to keep choosing your husband again and again. The wife is not the property of the husband. Traditionally, men think that the woman is their property, even though they don’t say it but they act it. She is not your property! She willingly submits to you out of love for you Read the rest of this entry

Consistently Choose

‘Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love’ 1 Cor.13:13

Love and sex are marathons. They are not sprints -they are marathons. Some people have a level they want to get to in their sexuality with their spouse and they want to achieve it on day one. That is not the way to go about it because you will hurt yourself and you will hurt your relationship.  Sometimes, some things take time. You grow in loving your wife. As a man I had to learn, and you Read the rest of this entry
