Submitted To God I
‘Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you’ James 4:7[KJV].
To have liberty without responsibility is bondage [self-bondage]. Then the people become what the Bible calls lawful captives – legal captives. Liberty is not enough, God wants you and I to be free. For us to walk in real freedom, five things must be in place. This list is not exhaustive but these five things must be in place for us to really walk in the liberty that God has for us. Sustained By Responsibility
‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls’ Matt.11:28-29.
We are born with an innate desire to be free. A little boy will refuse help from his parents because he wants to be free to wear his shoes the way he wants even though he will mix them up. With teenagers the desire becomes very pungent and most times it is expressed in the desire to break every rule. We try to push our boundaries here and there even at work. It is that innate desire to be free that pushes us to celebrate Friday’s [TGIF]. Unfortunately when we step out of the bounds God has put around us in order to be free sometimes we end Read the rest of this entry
Dominion
‘And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion… over every living thing that moveth upon the earth’ Gen. 1:28[KJV].
Every promotion from God attracts a new level of battle or opposition from the enemy camp. Every promotion requires a new level of responsibility and dedication. This is why God will not just land a blessing on you without growing you and preparing you for the battle or responsibility that might come as a result of that blessing. One of the mistakes some Christians make is that they assume that they do Read the rest of this entry
Who Are You Speaking To?
‘And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me… And God granted him that which he requested’ 1 Chr.4:10 [KJV].
Guess what, just like the man of God, you too can go directly to God to get curses broken. According to scripture, the man Jabez was cursed from birth by his mother. And Jabez realizing the negative effect of the curses went to the God of Israel – the God of men. Jabez cried to the God of Israel ‘Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed’. What Jabez was saying in essence was – reverse this curse Lord and Read the rest of this entry
Who Spoke Into Your Life?
Gen. 48:20 ‘So Jacob blessed the boys… “The people of Israel will use your names when they give a blessing. They will say, ‘May God make you as prosperous as Ephraim and Manasseh. In this way, Jacob put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh’
‘Gather together and hear, you sons of Jacob, and listen to Israel your father’ Gen.49:2. The question is who has spoken into your life?
Except By Him
‘Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me’ John 14:6
As Christians we are in constant danger of false assurances. ‘…When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags…’ Isa.64:6. God has helped you live a clean life without fornication, adultery, stealing, and killing – God helped you by the power of the Holy Spirit. When you begin to approach God based on your goodness, you are placing yourself under the curse of the law. For some people this is all that needs to be taken care of and they will enter their inheritance this year. Realize that in your strength and by Read the rest of this entry
Inherited II
‘I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. I will do this because Abraham listened to me…’ Gen.26:4-5
Blessings can also be inherited. Blessings can move from generation to generation. Like in the case of Isaac, there are certain things that our parents have done before God and men that we are enjoying today. ‘I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions’ Gen.26:5. I have no doubt that a lot of the spiritual progress that most of Read the rest of this entry
Inherited I
‘Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge’ Jer.31:30 [NIV]
Blessings and curses are not only provoked, they are also inherited. Blessings and curses can be passed down from one generation to another generation. This is why you find situations where a grandfather is cursed and struggles with it, the father struggles with the same thing, and the son finds himself struggling with the same thing. Such curses, this season as we are waiting on God, would be Read the rest of this entry
Provoking Blessings
‘May many nations become your servants, and may they bow down to you. May you be the master over your brothers, and may your mother’s sons bow down to you. All who curse you will be cursed, and all who bless you will be blessed’ Gen.27:29
Let me tell you a story about a pastor friend. He was very anointed but he was broke. It is a terrible thing to be anointed and broke, it is a frustrating thing. A lot of us think prayer alone attracts wealth. You can pray from now till tomorrow, if you don’t sow a seed you can’t reap a harvest. So the guy was very anointed but he was hungry. One day a lady offers to take him to lunch and his soul was satisfied. He said to me that prophecy began to flow from him for the lady, specific words of prophecy. I can’t judge him but when I heard this I Read the rest of this entry
Provoked
‘Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it—He went up to my couch’ Gen.49:4 [NKJV]
The nature of curses and blessings is that curses are provoked and blessings are also provoked. ‘Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest’ Prov.26:2 [NIV]. If you are a child of God and perhaps someone is just jealous of you in the office and begins to curse you just laugh because the curse is not going to rest on you. Again who can curse the one that God has blessed? God has not beheld iniquity in you. It is so important to be on God’s good side. Israel said to Reuben ‘because you went up Read the rest of this entry
