Heart Check VIII

‘O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is’ Ps.63:1 [KJV]

A Worshipping heart. There are a hundred and fifty Psalms in the Bible, David wrote seventy-nine of them. In fact, he compiled the entire Book of Psalms but he composed seventy-nine. More than half, the other seventy-one psalms were composed by other people,  that tells you of his heart. Ps.63:1, David says ‘my soul, my soul [in our context] and my flesh is seeking to worship God. You and I know that even when our souls and our spirits are alive maybe in the morning or at night and we want to worship, our flesh struggles. We struggle in our flesh, we are tired, and the flesh is weak. But David is saying, my soul is excited and my flesh is excited to worship You. David was a classic worshipper. David says ‘seven times a day will I worship you’. I am not talking about haphazard songs that come to my mind. I am talking about stopping what I am doing and blessing the Lord with songs from my heart. ‘I will bless you  o Lord (2x), with a heart of thanksgiving, I will bless you O Lord’. Perhaps you want to try worshiping God like David did, seven times a day. Try it for one week, set your alarm on your phone. Break the day into seven parts and just dedicate five minutes to worshipping God. And when you alarm goes off just stop what you are doing and sing to him from your heart. ‘I praise you O Lord (2x), in my life Lord, I see what You’re doing. One more time Lord, I lift my hands in praise of Your name. I lift my hands in praise of Your Name’.

David set up a choir to worship God twenty-four hours of the day. David was a worshipper. People are quick to point to David when they are committing adultery but read the Bible properly. God dealt with David for the wrong that he did. To whom much is given, much is expected. Can you carry the weight of the responsibility that David carried with God? David had a worshipping heart. David would play the harp and demons would be flying out. The Bible says that God inhabits the praise of His people. When you worship God, the presence fills that place. And when light comes in, darkness has to go. Develop a habit of worship.

Prayer [song]: Father in heaven how we love You. We lift Your Name in all the earth. May Your Kingdom be established in our praises, as Your people declare Your mighty works. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty. Who was and is and is to come. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty who reigns forevermore
