Is That All?
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he good! His faithful love endures for ever” Ps.136:1
It is only the living that can complain but guess what it is also only the living that can give thanks to God. Which would it be for you? Regardless of what you are going through, the fact that you are alive shows that God is not done with you yet and this is reason enough to give thanks. Many times we do not give the thanksgiving that is commensurate to our breakthrough, or even commensurate to our request for the breakthrough. We pray and wait on God for something sometimes this goes on for weeks, and sometimes even years. But when God does it, we just say, ‘Oh! Thank You Lord’ and move on. Is that all God deserves? Is that all God is expecting? Is God expecting us to give thanks? Of course! Remember the ten lepers? “Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” Luke 17:17-18. God expects us to come back and just thank Him profusely. We must never allow ourselves get comfortable with trivializing God’s works in our lives or around us.
God is alive and well, and He is doing awesome things in our lives. But many times we tend to take it for granted. It is my prayer that you will never take the things God does for granted. God chastised me in time past. God gave us a word of knowledge and the week after someone came forward with a testimony of healing triggered by that word of knowledge. I just said thank you Lord and I moved on. Later on in the day the Lord said to me, that is all I get? I got really scared. The risk is that God can take the manifestation of His power somewhere that it would be better appreciated. But I said no, me and those that you have added to me will dance before you in gratitude. So I hit the street late in the night and I was thanking God just for that miracle. Even in our lives the things that God does and you think is little, God wants you to thank Him profusely. Sometimes, we just get used to the move of God in our lives; after all I should be promoted, why wouldn’t I be promoted? Really? Are you better than the people who have not been promoted for twelve years? God expects us to thank Him profusely. As the year draws to a close, perhaps it is time to reflect and just catch up on your thanksgiving. Even if you have been setting aside time to give thanks all year long, my thoughts are, you can never thank God enough.
Prayer [song]: I have seen the Lord’s goodness, His mercies and compassion. I have seen the Lord’s goodness, Halleluyah! Praise the Lord. O Lord, You have been so good, You are so good to me. O Lord, You are excellent in my life everyday… Amen!
